I was getting soaked. If I remember rightly a few of us from the Beastie bus hired a mini bus to get through and were wrecked by kick off :greengrin

What a night though singing never stopped and Andy Roxburgh waxed lyrical about the support after the game.

Some night. 9 years later France where World champions.

I was wearing a suede jacket that ended up the size of a chamois leather that night....bloody torrential.

What a great game though. Can't believe its been so long.

27 years ago?! Was behind the goals on the uncovered terracing soaked to skin, but what a night. Makes it more depressing how far we have sunk as a football nation.

Think you've picked the wrong game, no danger 75% of them were playing in 1989.

Excluding Sauzee. Only heard of 4 players from that French side.

Bats, Battiston, Blanc and Papin.

One of the worst tackles I've ever seen. Surprised Schumacher wasn't sent off that night going by the clip I watched on YouTube ages ago.

Are you thinking of the '82 semi final?

How Schumacher got away with that assault is beyond me.

I was yes i thought that was 86!

Unbelievable that it wasn't even given as a foul.

North terracing. Just over half way line towards East terracing. Never been so wet in my life fully clothed. We were good then.
We were good then.
To be honest, we weren't. I dont think the current 2016 squad is far inferior to that squad, who were far less talented than the Dalglish/Souness/Bremner/Law generations that preceded it. Throughout the 80s and 90s the tartan army and the Scottish media were just as negative about the Scottish team as they are now. We had some real horror shows then too. Thats the thing about golden ages, they always seem better with hindsight.

I was there, it was my first Scotland game and while it was a fantastic night with an electric atmosphere, one of the things that struck me was that it was really obvious who around me supported Rangers and who supported Celtic by what they were shouting.

Very true, not sure what your point is though. The world existed for quite a long time before 2000 (arbitrary line in the sand), considerably longer than the 15 years and a bit that have passed since then.

Don't know how anyone old suggest the current crop of non entities is in any way comparable to this team - obviously inferior to some that went before but much better than anything since.
