Would leaving the Easter Road area at around 5pm be enough time to get to the ground, taking into account that it's rush hour time.

Cheers

Will be tight, but should be ok. Normally takes around 1 hour 45 or so

Cheers. Been a few times before but just concerned about getting there during rush hour traffic. Not sure if it will be enough time

No chance. Take an hour to get out of Edinburgh that time of night.... Also have to be lucky M8/M74

Better heading for Biggar or my preference through Moffat. Roadworks M8 M74 could be problematic at that time of night as will the M8 from City Bypass up to Livingston.

No way he will make it if he goes the M8/M74 route, better with the A702 Biggar Rd or the A701 Moffat. We are taking the A701 from Dalkeith leaving at 4.30pm and hope to get there in time to have a pre match half pint shandy.

Go via Moffat or Biggar and you'll have enough time for a pie before kick off.

Quickest, shortest and best way to Dumfries. Get out to Straiton past Sainsbury and Asda and Bilston. Cut off at Auchendinny and keep going to the Leadburn Inn. Straight across there on to the A701 to Moffat. The A72 joins the A701 just after Blyth Bridge. After about 3 miles it cuts off to Biggar but stay on the A701. It takes 55 minutes to get to Palmerston from that junction. I have done the Dumfries journey hundreds of times and this is the quickest. You occasionally get speed cameras in Rommano Bridge and on the long straight to St Anns Bridge between Moffat and Dumfries. Its also difficult to overtake for 6 miles after Broughton but other than that there's lots of places to get past slower traffic. I got to Dumfries in 1 hour 40 from Trinity on Sunday past but that was early in the morning and breezed through the city. I normally allow 2 hours outside rush hour so its all about getting past Straiton. Enjoy the game

The 702 is a better road than the 701 but is busier. If you join it at Fairmilehead it will take 15 minutes longer than the 701 despite being on the M74 for a good few miles. I've done the trip to Dumfries almost every other week for the last 20 years and the quickest road is the 701.

I'm in Dumfries now. Can confirm it's sunshine and showers, 9 degrees, moister than Gary Locke after a trip to Salamander St. Golden Shower Emporium.

Just stopped for a tactical Gregg's on the way up, only got about 40 miles to go. Hope nobody takes my prime getaway spot near the Ice Dome. Glad we didn't have to choose terracing or seating when buying the tickets; definitely not a night for the open terracing.
