With teams hitting us hard on the counter attack after constant pressure but struggling to get the ball in the net, would it make sense to play 3 at the back and put on an extra striker

It seems apparent that width is the way to win this league. We struggle to break teams down - width is a great way of achieving that as proved by Hearts last year. We should start playing with Boyle and Carmichael on each flank and pressing teams into submission. Who to sacrifice? That's based on form, really. A provisional XI could be:

Oxley.

Gunnarsson. McGregor. Hanlon. Stevenson.

McGeouch. McGinn.

Boyle. Henderson. Carmichael.

Cummings.

Width is the key. For all of our wins, the amount of chances that we have failed to convert due to our build up playa is astonishing. We tip-tap it around the box for the majority of time. If we have width, we open up the defence as seen against Alloa and Rangers last season. When we play around the box, we invite the opposing team to sit in the box. Pointless, time-wasting and the main reason why we 'scrape' 1-0 results that should be 5-0 romps. I can't see any argument against that.

McGeouch and McGinn can play further forward to accommodate Bartley or Fyvie.
