Based on the what Stubbs had to deal with with the same agent in the summer (scott Allan's), it's probably that that he is alluding to.

:agree:

There was no laughing or joking from Cummings that night. In fact, only a pep talk from former Rangers star Barry Ferguson lifted his spirits.

He said: “From being on this incredible high, just a few days later I missed the decisive penalty that put us down.

“I was devastated. I felt like I’d let all the boys down. It was an all-time low.

“I was hearing that there would be job losses at the club because we’d been relegated. And I felt guilty – like it was all on my shoulders.

“The fans were distraught and it took me a while to shrug it off. But I’m a better player and person for it.

“When you’ve hit rock bottom nothing will faze you after that.

“That night I just locked myself away. I met my agent, Alan Houldsworth, after the game and he helped me.

“For a few days I slept a lot. I don’t think I left the house that week.

With Houldsworth involved I'm not convinced he will sign a new contract. Hope I'm wrong and hope Cummings listens to Stubbs, for his own good too. A move too early could ruin another promising career.

So JC/agent will want to wait until the summer to see how things go and Hibs want to tie him up with offer of bumper contract, think he will wait until the summer to see how things pan out.

I think the only reason Hibs are offering him the new contract in January is so they make a good sum of him when he is sold in the summer.

His agent will give him advice, the folk closest to him may have a bigger say.

Just my thoughts.

Now the window is closed we can rule out teams fighting relegation as the primary reason for wanting JC. Then we are left with teams prepared to spend money on a player for the future. He's not the finished article so will be a first team choice for at best a lower level Championship side or a bench warmer. At Hibs he's guaranteed a start so long as he remains injury free.
Playing week in week out for a team whose fans are 100% behind you did not seem to be a factor in SA moving, but then the agent supposed he could engineer a move to Der Hun. Not a card he'd be able to use for Jason. Sense says he stays where he is and still gets a move. Moving first might be a LOSE when he's hit the gamble button on the puggy.
