Im hearing Paul wants to join his brother at Easter Road next season. He has refused to sign a new contract at Dundee. My contact tells me he has been terrific for them at right back has tremendous potential and would be a massive signing for us. I don't know anything about him. Anybody seen him play?

Would be a very good signing. Decent player young and athletic.

Decent in " Withnail and I " but other than that I feel he underachieved.

This thread stinks of starting a rumour for the sake of it.

Yes, John has two footballing brothers, as nice as it would be to have a Kolo/Yaya chant of our own; it doesnt in any way mean they will be coming to Easter Road.

If he signs then surely we would have to find a George and Ringo as well.We would then have a fab four to rival the famous 5.

I just ordered a home shirt with McGinn 18 to be worn proudly in LA. It was a tough pick considering our squad and I would wear any of their names right now.

You may well be telling the truth but I'm instantly sceptical of any non-journalist that uses language like "I'm hearing..." and "My contact...". When did folk get so up themselves that "A boy down the pub..." or "A Dundee-supporting work colleague..." needed to be embellished. If I went into the pub and started "my sources tell me" chat, I'd get laughed out of there (or rapped in the coupon).

While I agree that rumours always need to be taken with a dose of scepticism ( and some people are very pompous about it....though not the poster you quoted, or any of our regular ITK people), is that language not just a reflection of the fact that people are talking to strangers on an internet forum? If you were in the pub speaking to people you knew, you would say, for example, "I live next to Paul Hanlon's mum and she told me that he's signing for Real Madrid next week." When you went home, and decided to share the news with us, you probably wouldn't want to land Paul's mum in any bother, so what do you say?

Possibly and my post probably sounds harsher than intended but it's all very Gerry McNee IMHO.

I'd probably post "Paul Hanlon is signing for Real Madrid next week" but secretly I'd want to post "I can exclusively reveal that a senior source at Hibs has been in touch to inform me that Paul Hanlon will sign for Real Madrid next week. Read the full story on my blog www.ivegotallthecontactsme.co.uk (http://www.ireallyreaditontwitter.com)".

Paul is signing for Real Madrid. Benji had a word with zidane at training and a 20m bid has been accepted. Unfortunately he also told him that John McGinn is better than him and he nutted him putting him out for the season.

At this point we should be scouring the earth for a left back. Its the one position where we have no cover and no competition ... if something was to happen to Lewis our failure to add specialist cover in that area this season could come back and bite us on the bum.

I'm pretty sure gunnarson is supposed to be comfortable playing left back.

Hanlon could easily do a job there as well

Hibernian are lining up a bid to sign Dundee right-back Paul McGinn, who has yet to agree to a contract extension with the Scottish Premiership club. (The Sun, print edition)
