Sorry if this has been covered on another thread, but how come John Souttar was eligible to play for Hearts yesterday and on the bench, when he was previously an unused sub for Dundee United in an earlier round v Airdrie?

I picked up in earlier threads about Stokes eligibility, that you are ineligible to play in the Scottish Cup if you had played or were an unused sub for another club in an earlier round. Unlike the League Cup which has different rules:dunno:

The rules initially quoted in here were out of date. Unused subs are no longer cup tied in either cup competition apparently.

Where do you see these updated rules?
(not saying you are wrong)

The pdf file which comes up on Google says:-

RULES OF THE SCOTTISH CUP (“THE “RULES”)

The players in a team may be changed from match to match, but a club may not play, or list
as a named substitute, any player who, in the same season, has already played, or been a
named substitute, for another club in the Competition. (Rule 34.1 (b) refers).

and

where a club is found to have named within
an Official Team Line a player who, in the same season, has already played or been
listed as a named substitute for another club in the Competition, then such club will
be ejected from the Competition. Neither the Board, nor the Judicial Panel nor the
Secretary shall be entitled to waive or modify the application of this Rule in any
circumstances;

Somebody posted a link last week - apparently the updated rules are on the website but are hidden away a bit.
