View Full Version : Weather for Saturday

Col2

Weather warnings for Lothian area for Friday and while not Saturday, looks like gales of 40 mph and chance of snow.

Hopefully doesn't get worse as wind just destroys games as a spectacle.

Wouldn't fancy being in the asbestos stand in high winds there will be bits falling off all over the place.

You should really get a hard hat supplied as a condition of entry into that stand.

Imagine if every one in that stand turned up wearing one.

Probably not be allowed to enter ground, as hard hat would be deemed a missile:rolleyes:

Then you produce your risk assesment with the hard hat listed as your appropriate PPE and insist on entry :-)

Light snow temperature not to get above three degrees, and wind speed gusts of between 40 to 50 miles an hour up to and into kick off ,If that changes to be like that for whole of the game it's no hard hats it's thermals and layers we need
I don't want to even look at Greenock's forecast for Tuesday night

Glad i was given a Mountain Warehouse hardcore coat at Christmas, dry and warm...though need a cap under the hood as for some reason it is not wired! Mountain Extreme range it is too, any of you doing hard outside work in the hills know you need a wired hood...weird that MW did not see that lol. Anyhoo, will work on the day.

It will be fine, tramps are not putting covers on the pitch and the under soil heating is goosed as well, SFA have advised fans to take there own grit.

£5 a tin outside the ground, get your grit £5.

Just watched the BBC weather. Looks horrendous for tomorrow and Saturday. Storm force winds and heavy rain Friday. Saturday gale force winds and snow at lower levels on Saturday.

Met office saying 26mph winds gusting 43mph 4degrees celcius, with possible light rain showers. So not forecast to be quite cold enough for snow in Edinburgh during daytime hours. They're usually not too far away when forecasting for 48 hours later.

Glad I went for tickets in the 'upper tier' and not the 'lower tier'. Should be a bit drier up there. Even typing about tiers at Tynecastle raises a smile. Delusional

To be nothing but heavy rain and snow over the next 48 hours at least. Our game will definitely be in down. First ever semi final postponed??

Latest forecast for Sat looks bad - heavy snow and high winds. Main risk to game must be St J fans safety getting to/from the match :worried:

Col2
29-01-2016, 05:38 AM
I think it must be marginal if game goes ahead. 50 mph winds and snow through until Saturday evening. Granted winds and weather wanting worse for today (Friday) but it's not great for Saturday and it's getting worse rise marginally.

Would be gutted if it was postponed but would rather not a lottery of a game played in unplayable conditions.

I think the game will be off if it's anything like it is this morning. Wasn't there last game called off due to safety reasons not the pitch being flooded few weeks ago?

Forecasted Wind speeds of 15mph and gusts of 20mph. Bit of rain and snow. Think we will be fine

DaveF
29-01-2016, 07:01 AM
The rain and snow should not be a problem as they will be blown through quickly, but the wind strength will be an issue if its anything like this. If, as forecast it goes down to 40-50mph gusts it should be ok.

Went to Easter Road this afternoon and popped into the pub for a couple of pints afterwards. To be truthful I didn't find the weather anywhere as bad as what was forecast. Fingers crossed that it calms down tomorrow and we the big :giruy2: to Gertrude.

Will be interesting to see what happens overnight.

I think the game will be fine - though I would wrap up for the cold weather.

It's should be the same wind levels tomorrow at kick off as it has been this evening. So windy but not hurrendous.

Show looks like it will be off and on with some sunny spells

It will be cold and feel colder.

Come on the Hibs.
