Big game for us today, got to get the 3 points, if Stokes & Cummings start today then there can only be one outcome, a gubbing to St Mirren, i reckon Hibs Hibs Hibs could score a few goals today, midfield has got to play a bit better, defence is solid and our goalie strolling the season and our strikers on there day can score goals for fun, Stokes will be gutted if he doesn't get a couple today.

Do we have any injuries for today, Gray Bartley, are they fit, shouldn't matter as we have a big enough squad to deal with injuries now and players coming in should be up for it and wanting to keep there place in the team.

Updates for Hibs game only on this thread or you will have Pretty Boy to deal with.

Good chance for Dagnall to impress.

Bartley and Fyvie in there suggests we expect a bit of a battle in midfield. Hopefully we have 7/8 players on form today rather than what we've seen recently.

I wonder if we may see Fyvie play a bit more advanced today.

I could be wrong, it's the case more often than not, but I'm sure he played in a more attacking role whilst at Aberdeen.

It won't all be down to this but the number of tackles on Dylan and the number of fouls must be the highest of anyone in the squad. I don't think anyone else comes close. That's got to have an impact.

Nice win with what looks like a stronger team. I like Fyvie's play in the last two games. Hanlon was awesome and Stokes scoring on his debut is just what we need. Dagnall had two decent shots on target and Keatings slipped his man to create Stokes tap in. Good team performance with Henderson MOTM by a long way.

3-1 about right. A very solid and enjoyable performance. Some pleasing on the eye fluidity at times and whilst the team line up was not one many of us amateurs would have suggested, it was one that worked very well indeed. Good to see Fyvie back to better form and a good few more than decent performers, Henderson in particular.
We should go to Tynecastle in confident mood.

Another vital 3 points today. 3-1 really flattered St Midden, who were woeful. It was ridiculous that it was only 2-1 right up to the 90th minute given the pressure and possession Hibs enjoyed. Amazingly, it was 10 corners to nil today.

Hibs were unlucky not to have added a few more goals to boost their GD. Paul Hanlon unlucky not to score with a couple of headers.

The only "negative" for me was the manner of losing a goal on 45+2 mins direct from a free kick. Maybe I'm wrong, but Mark Oxley looked to be positioned poorly. I'll need to see it again though, as well as the position of the defensive wall.

Thought the midfield had great balance - Marvin B does a tidy job, simple, not a 'sexy player' but allows other midfielders scope to create in the knowledge he's there to mop up.

Got to play Dagnall next weekend - first striker in ages that absolutely pesters every defender and forces errors. Very intelligent player. Allows others to probe space and gaps - he'll bag a few too - good addition.

Wright likes Easton, McKay and his defence pressing up - Dagnall absolutely pests a defence and limits them getting forward - has to be a pressing game next week.

Wotherspoon is a lovely player to watch but soft - doesn't like physicality - they'll want to limit Gray and Lewy, so it'll be cautious first 15. I love the way Dagnall got the first whistle and rattled them. Certainly for the Hearts cup game we'll need urgency from the off - Dagnall gives that.

Also wish folk would cut Fyvie slack - so lucky to have a guy like that. Great pro, lives properly, magic player - the boos when he loses a first pass !!!??? Jeez some folk forget Deegan, Thornhill, Keenan, Tudur Jones, etc too quick !!!!

I looked at the bench today and thought there's not an SPFL club outside Celtic wouldn't want it - and no Dylan !

I think Oxley was fine from where I was sitting. I think it was just a good free kick to be honest. We nearly got caught out before it so wasn't a surprise when they did find the back of the net. I agree about Fyvie one misplaced pass last week and this place was in melt down yet McGinn who I thought was very poor seemed immune to criticism.

Will be a tough choice for Stubbs but it's all about us and how we take the game to them. All the pressure is on Saints IMHO being the PL team. If we go out and play like we can play we will win

Plus this is very much 'business end' for Hibs - I love Malonga however last week he reverted back to nonchalant - can't do that at this stage in the season in Scotland - what I like is we've four strikers (Stokes, Keatings, Cummings, Dagnall) who are the 'live wire' sort who you know will want to prove themselves - you have Dom and Farid who are great technically but languid in style - we are rich up top.

I'm not worried at all V Saints - I'm worried V Hearts - not the way we play but how they play - V them I want 4-3-3 and absolutely cup tie frenetic in their face football - if we play counter attack we'll get murdered

The biggest test against the yams is not squaring up to the and getting in about them. Yes they are a big physical team however we match them player for player and play to our capability then I honestly think we are better then them.

They have mistakes in them, especially through the centre and that Rossi is a liability.

Discipline, pace and energy will win the day.

Stay strong don't let them bully us.

Aberdeen don't have a strong centre pairing and played Rooney alone Aldo - bad move - I seriously don't rate their back line, including Paterson, hence I want 4-3-3 - for me I'd consider occupying Paterson with Boyle - I noticed on Boyles debut at Tynie they simply couldn't handle him. We played MB as a RWB that day if I remember correctly. Best game in a Hibs jersey.

As I mentioned in a previous post I think the yams are poor through the CH position and it's not always about being big and strong but playing smart. I think if we could win a lot of the 2nd ball against the yams then we can cause them problems.

I was not his biggest fan when he came, but he's won me over. When you watch it again, the ball goes in the net a couple of yards from the right hand post.

I was not his biggest fan when he came, but he's won me over. When you watch it again, the ball goes in the net a couple of yards from the right hand post.

In my opinion its a very soft goal to concede, and one i'd want my keeper to save.

Just watched it - looks like he is quite far over to the left hand side. I'm not sure if that's where he should be or not though. Obviously if he wasn't he might've saved it but then again the guy might've rolled it into an unprotected side of the net.

No idea!

I think it's probably fair to say that Ox and Alan Combe will be discussing that free kick on Monday.......

I'd like to see it again. As I say it looked fine from the West Lower and just a good free kick. Keepers don't normally stand in the middle though for free kicks.

They work on the wall protecting one side while they have a clear view of the other side. Yes it leaves it open if they beat the wall, but sometimes keepers save them as well even from their starting position.

Where did you watch the highlights Matty?

Billy's thread on here with a link to the Hibs TV highlights. :greengrin

I thought he was fine at the game from the West Upper at that side, but seeing the replay I reckon he could have been better positioned without sacrificing too much cover on 'his' side of the goal.

Didn't even notice that thread until DH said haha.

Just watched it and he's a lot further to the left than I thought he was. Defo to far over for me. Combe wouldn't be happy with that and I'd hope they work on the free kicks this week.

In fairness to Oxley it wasn't quite Koeman vs Seaman and I'm guessing Oxley thought the wall would cope better. Still think it was a well-taken free kick. He and the rest of the team will learn from it, thankfully it didn't cost us points though it impacts on the GD.

Having just watched the goals for the first time since the match however, what about that second goal for us :flag:
