The 2016 celebrity death toll continues to mount with Glen Frey, guitarist and co-founder of The Eagles has died overnight.

My dad was a huge Eagles fan and therefore I listened to a lot of their stuff when I was young and loved them (still do). Seen them live twice - they're a spectacular band and Frey was utterly central to them - an incredibly gifted guitarist and amazing presence on their stage.

Another one gone too soon too, as he was only 67.

If I believed in such a concept, I'd suggest God is putting together one hell of a lineup for the inaugural HeavenFest!

Agree with every word - though it was both my parents... and I only seen them once :greengrin

Was always a Henley man, while my dad preferred the country songs of Frey. All brilliant though and a sad loss to music.

Highly recommend the 'History of The Eagles' programmes that appear on sky Arts from time to time. A great watch.

Yeah, I watched that. It's long, but fascinating. Having grown up through the 70's with their stuff, my mate and I decided that, on balance, the film showed they were a bunch of ****s who deserved each other :greengrin

Yes did they not absolutely detest each other. Travelling separately and staying in different hotels.

My favourite story is when Frey and Felder were at each other's throats. . So now we're on stage, and Felder looks back at me and says, 'Only three more songs till I kick your ass, pal.'And I'm saying, 'Great. I can't wait.'We're out there singing 'Best of My Love,' but inside both of us are thinking, 'As soon as this is over, I'm gonna kill him.' That was when I knew I had to get out."

In saying that, Don Felder (who I thought was treated very badly) put a very gracious tribute on his FB page yesterday. https://www.facebook.com/donfeldermusic/?fref=ts
