I'm not sure if this is correct or not. I had a quick look at the SPFL rules and it does say in the 'cup' rules that if you have played in the competition for another club you are inelligible. My interpretation of the SPFL rules is that if you have been named in the starting 11 or the notified substitutes this constitutes as having played and this would appear to rule him out of the St Johnstone game. When I looked further at the 'loan' rules it appears that there is nothing Celtic can do to stop him playing against them in the cups. It looks like the rules only allow them to stop loan players playing against them in league games.

Perhaps someone with a better knowledge of these rules can confirm whether this is correct or not.

What a difference a few seasons make. Years gone by, we would of been sitting on the 31st January calling out for the club to get someone in as we'd needed it. We'd get the usual journeyman that has been left because no other club wanted them. Now we're signing proven goal scorers in Scotland.

It does make me happy to see my club going in the right direction.
