So if Hutchie get through and are given the go ahead to play at Saughton you'll have 3 sets of fans with no love loss between each other all in the same part of the city for a short period.
If Hutchie get through and aren't given the go ahead to play at Saughton, the only other alternative could be Easter Road. The pubs close by will be full of hopefully happy Hibbies while the great unwashed are looking for a pre match pint.
At least Police Scotland will be earning there money for a change.

On the subject of where Hutchie will play are there any ITK merchants aware of what there plans are? Could they potentially play at Almondvale?

LTHV have a good relationship with Hibs and their preferred option is ER to maximise revenue. Saughton isn't an option.

As for our game, as expected. At least the Scottish Cup TV deal is a good one and we'll make a bit cash.

Scottish Cup TV deal is totally separate to the SPFL.

The Scottish FA have and always has improved on their TV deal with Sky since they came in a main host broadcaster in 1998. They make fortunes from UEFA via Sky from the new centralised rights for qualifiers.

They even get decent money from BBC for live Scottish Cup games and highlights, which are shown on a Saturday.

They have maintained sponsors too, in the main.

As for kickoff times, more factors come into play with a Derby. Regardless, it will be a sellout.

I don't see what the problem is with 12:30 on a Sunday.

I suppose if you like to get p1ssed out your mind before a game it must be a bit of a bummer but, IMHO, fewer blootered Fans at bigger games is a good thing.

A lot of the time the build to a derby is better than the actual match itself. I don't think everyone wants to get pissed out their mind , though I would agree some do , but a 1230 kick off on Sunday doesn't leave anytime for a few beers before hand and to let the tension and atmosphere build.

The SFA Sky deal means we are probably the only fans in the world who can't even see highlights of their national team on free to air tv. And it results in cup semi final kick-off times that fans can't get to by public transport - witness Inverness, twice. The SFA couldn't give diddly-squat for the lifeblood of the game, the fans. I'm not giving them any credit for their ****ty deals.

Highlights of all Scotland's qualifiers are on ITV.

The qualifiers live rights are sold by UEFA for the Scottish FA and the other 53 nations. Every TV company has a right to bid.

The home friendlies highlights were on BBC until 2014, when they decided not to bid for them. Away friendlies are done on a game by game basis.

I remember Hibernian v Celtic in 1995 at Ibrox being on a Friday night. That was a good kick off time. We had the Aberdeen Semi-Final in 2000 at 6.05pm.

Sometimes the Police are not flexible with times and you have the UEFA blackout period on a Saturday.

I imagine it would be different if we had a good record in these games. Not meant to sound negative, I'm confident we'll start to turn them over more often now that things are looking up.

A game at home to Dundee Utd was 6.05 as well (it was either 2-2 or we won 3-2). Billy Dodds missed a last minute penalty. Gottskalkson had a howler for the 1st and conceded the penalty and was dropped the next week for Nick Colgan. Don't think he played for us again.

A couple at Dens that may have been 5.30 kickoffs: won 4-3 and the Zitelli 2-1 game.

Beating Celtic 2-1 at Easter Road in 99/2000, winning 3-1 at Motherwell the next season. Did the power not go out at a home game against Motherwell in 2001?

The 'great' Rangers got gubbed by St. Johnstone in the League Cup, Warburton still gets irked when asked about it. This is a good game to guage what they are like, plus it is live across the UK not just Scotland. What other game should have been on?

DavieRoy

The 6.05pm kick offs ran from the formation of the SPL in 1998/99 until the end of it's third season in 2000/01. We didn't enter the league until 1999/2000.

The good thing back then is Scottish football had a set slot.

Hibernian Record:
1999/2000
08/08/99: Dundee 3-4 Hibernian
31/10/99: Hibernian 3-2 Dundee United
19/12/99: Hearts 0-3 Hibernian
06/02/00: Hibernian 2-2 Rangers
05/03/00: Hibernian 2-1 Celtic
09/04/00: Hibernian 1-2 Aberdeen - Scottish Cup Semi-Final

There was another live game that season but it was against Hearts on the last game of the season, all games kicked off early and not at 6.05pm.

2000/2001
22/10/00: Hibernian 6-2 Hearts
05/11/00: Dundee 1-2 Hibernian
03/12/00: Motherwell 1-3 Hibernian
26/12/00: Hearts 1-1 Hearts
25/02/01: Celtic 1-1 Hibernian
04/03/01: Hibernian 1-1 Motherwell
08/04/01: Hibernian 0-0 Rangers
13/05/01: Hibernian 0-0 Hearts

Sky also had a midweek game against Kilmarnock live in January 2001, BBC had a St. Johnstone game live and both had the Scottish Cup Final.

P14 W7 D6 L1

In season 2001/02, the Sky live games changed to 5.35pm on Saturdays.

Was that not a Friday night? I'm sure it was Yogis debut

It was.

Sky used to broadcast Friday night football in 1994/95, 1995/96 and 1996/97 in Scotland.

We had and awful 0-0 at Motherwell live at Fir Park in January 1995 and the Scottish Cup Semi-Final with Celtic at Ibrox on Friday's then Yogi's debut a couple of seasons later.

I laughed a couple of years ago when Friday nights came back for both TV and non TV to mixed opinion because it had all been tried before in the mid 90s.
