Well here it is, the final instalment in my look back at the 140 years of Hibernian Football Club's history. I started posting the daily record of season by season back in August, I hope that you have enjoyed it and learned a few thing that you may not have known about Hibs over that time.

Season 2014-15
13th June, Chief Executive, Leeann Dempster, appoints George Craig, (Former Falkirk Managing Director) as head of football operations. The club also initiated a youth development partnership with Spartans.
24th June, Alan Stubbs, former under 21’s coach with Everton, was appointed to the role as Head Coach.
Former Hibs players Eddie May and Joe McBride Jnr, were appointed Academy Coaching Manager and Under 20s Development Coach.
Hibs started the season in the SPFL Championship along with Hearts and Rangers all looking to gain the one automatic promotion place and hoping that they would at least be in contention for the play-off place.
5th Aug, the first competitive match of the season was against Rangers in the Petrofac Training Cup at Ibrox. Against the run of play Lewis Macleod opened the scoring for Rangers in the first half. Daniel Handling managed to equalise for Hibs on 58 minutes, however he was shown a red card on 79 minutes. Nicky Law scored the winner for Rangers in extra-time.
9th Aug, Hibs first league game was against Livingston at Easter Road, Hibs won the game 2-1 thanks to a goal by Mark Oxley, (on-lone goalkeeper from Hull City), he kicked from hand and the bounce beat the Livi’ keeper at the other end of the pitch.
While Stubbs rebuilt the squad and developed his own style of play, Hibs early season form was poor, only winning two of the first six league games. However after beating Ross County 2-0 in Dingwall in the 3rd round of the League Cup, Hibs went until March only losing one league game, a 1-0 loss away to Falkirk, that run of games included a 3-1 win over Rangers a Ibrox and a 4-0 win over them at Easter Road.
24th Oct, off the field Hibs announced the intention to have two Supporter Representatives elected to the Board of Directors. Nominations were required from Hibs fans, then there would be an election from the wider Hibs community. 17 candidates were put forward.
29th Oct, Hibs meet Premiership Dundee United in the Quarter Final of the League Cup at Easter Road. The game ended 3-3 and with no more scoring in extra time it went to penalties, Utd won the shoot-out 7-6.
December, the club revealed that the outstanding £8m debt to the bank had been reorganised and that Sir Tom Farmer had arranged an interest-free £5m loan to the club.
29th Dec, Hibernian announced that it intended to widen the ownership of the Club by issuing new shares which would enable the Holding Company’s shareholding in Hibernian to be diluted below 50%. A new company Hibernian Supporters Limited, HSL to allow fans to take ownership of the club.
26th Jan, the two Non-Executive Directors elected by the club’s supporter’s fans to represent the views of supporters on the Club’s Board elected were Frank Dougan (who polled 571 votes) and Amit Moudgil (343 votes) from more than 3,000 votes cast.
18th Apr, Hibs lost 1-0 to Falkirk in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden, despite dominating the game Hibs were unable to make their advantage count.
2nd May, with Hearts having run away with the league, second and third place was contested between Hibs and Rangers but with 3-0 win at Falkirk, Hibs secured second place in the League, this meant that Rangers played 4th place Queen of the South in the Quarter-Finals of the play-offs.
20th May, after Rangers beat Queen of the South 3-2 in the two legs of the semi-final play-offs, Hibs visited Ibrox. It was another case of Hibs having the best of chances and possession but ended up on the wrong end of 2-0 score-line.
23rd May, in the return leg, Hibs again battered Rangers but with late goal from Jason Cummings proved to be too little too late and Rangers progressed to meet 11th placed Permiership side Motherwell in the final. Motherwell ended up beating Rangers 6-1 on aggregate. This resulted in Hibs and Rangers both remaining in the Championship for another season, they would also be joined by St Mirren who had been relegated form the Premiership.
Hibs had played Rangers 7 times over the course of the season, Hibs winning 4 and Rangers 3, Hibs scoring 11 and Rangers 7.

Season 2015-16
25th July, Hibs started the season with their first competitive game being in Petrofac Training Challenge Cup, where they were again drawn against Rangers. Alan Stubbs was in the process of rebuilding his side and as a result Rangers recorded a 6-2 win at Easter Road.
Rangers had made a number of bids to sign Hibs’ star player Scott Allan however the club stood firm and refused to allow him to go to their Championship rivals. After Allan made a transfer request, Hibs sold him to Celtic.
August, following an opening day 2-1 lost away to Dumbarton in the league, Hibs then beat Morton at home 1-0. Next up was a visited to Ibrox but they lost to Rangers 1-0 in a very close fought game.
November, Hibernian Ladies played Glasgow City in the Final of the Scottish Cup at Ainslie Park Edinburgh in a game that was played in torrential rain and gale force winds however it was City that won the cup 3-0.
They also came second to City in the league with the Glasgow side completing the season unbeaten.
In the League Cup, after beating Montrose 3-0 in the 1st round and Stranraer 1-0 in the 2nd, they faced high-flaying Premier League side Aberdeen who were unbeaten to that point, Hibs won 2-0. In the quarter final they beat Dundee United 3-0. They were drawn against St Johnstone in the semi-final which was to be played at Tynecastle at the end of January 2016.
Following the loss to Rangers in August, Hibs when the next 17 games unbeaten, recording 15 wins and two draws. After being 11 points behind Rangers in October, Hibs had the chance to go top when the faced Rangers at Ibrox in the last game of the year, however they lost 4-2.
And that’s the first 140 years of our history, The future of our great club is still to be written…….
