A husband and wife who plotted a terror attack in London have been jailed for a minimum of 27 and 25 years.
Mohammed Rehman, 25, discussed targeting the London Underground and Westfield shopping centre on social media under the name "Silent Bomber".
He and his wife Sana Ahmed Khan were convicted of preparing terrorist acts.

:agree: unfortunately, the tax payers they would have killed will have to fork out to feed the vermin every day

It's not bad but I still believe that THIS is the most impressive jail sentence I have ever seen.

Just a pity he took the coward's way out after a few weeks.

We're sentencing you to life without parole and just to make sure, you're also being sentenced to 1000 years imprisonment.

Outstanding. :top marks

quite horrific what the beast done, 937 charges :bitchy: he would have been in solitary confinement for the rest of his puff no doubt, the poor women will feel cheated that he got the chance to take his own poxy life

but going back to they two in london, i hope a precedent has been set re: jail terms, no doubt the defence would have said but..but.. but they didn't actually kill anyone

They should have tacked an extra 15 on for their sheer stupidity. Asking for targets on social media FFS?

Can't quite see why the woman got a lower sentence.

Outstanding. :top marks Disgusting man, one theory is that he didn't commit suicide but hanged himself accidentally indulging in a bit auto-erotic asphyxiation.

she funded it all and although it looks like it was her that was giving him all the encouragement it was him that was going to be pulling the trigger on all the dirty deeds from reading that report, there must be more about her involvement than in that report though, 25 years is a long time for 'just' supplying the funding for materials

She seems to be the ring-leader. He was clearly incredibly stupid judging by his use of social media. She seems to be the brains behind the venture.

I don't disagree with the sentence but interesting you could get less time for actually murdering someone.

Oh absolutely, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentences in this case.

If anything, they're too lenient for my liking.

Sounds as if he was subject to constant "harassment" AKA torture. A fitting punishment for a torturer, perhaps, but he wasn't sentenced to that. If the state is going to grant itself the right to remove people's liberty it has a responsibility to ensure their safety while in the state's care. Convicted criminals are more in need of scapegoats than most.

Where does it suggest he was subjected to harassment or torture whilst in prison?

From what I've read about his story, it sounds like he just couldn't stand spending the rest of his days in prison so decided to top himself.

He's no loss to the world but it's a shame that he only spent a few weeks in prison facing up to what he had put those women through for the previous 10 years or so.

In reports I've read, but I'm not just talking about him in particular; it's a well-known occurrence in jail. Peter Sutcliffe, for example, was partially blinded in an attempted murder and later attacked again in an attempt to fully blind him by another morally outraged paragon of virtue who just happened to be doing time, probably for parking offences.

Some would call it poetic justice.

I get your point but the more heinous the crime, the less I find myself giving a **** about what happens to them behind bars.

Problem is that the people who carry out these revenge attacks behind bars, and become heroes in the tabloids and amongst a certain type of person, probably didn't end up in the same part of a jail as a murderer, rapist, paedo etc through being an upstanding citizen.

Prison service failing in its duty though.

Maybe we could have inter prison contests, survival of the fittest and cut down on the over populated prisons at the same time.

Put the YO's in against the men and really cut down on youth recidivism.

Poetic justice would be life imprisonment with a tannoy in the cell and recordings of the works of William McGonagall playing ALL day EVERY day, on and on and on ....
