Season 2012-13



At the start of the season, the loan deal for Leigh Griffiths was extended for another season. James McPake was also signed on a permanent contract. Rangers had been liquidated and therefore the rest of the teams in the league had a greater opportunity to become more dominant.

28th August saw Hibs exit the League Cup with a 2-0 loss to Queen of the South.

11th November after a 2-1 win against Dundee United Hibs when top of the Scottish Premier League.

2nd December, Hibs got some revenge for the previous season’s cup defeat when they beat Hearts 1-0 at Easter Road after they were drawn against them in their first game of the Scottish Cup.

6th April, after being 1st in the league in November, Hibs only recorded 3 league wins out of 20 games and saw Hibs miss out on a top six place.

13th April, after beating Aberdeen 1-0 and Kilmarnock 4-2 in the Scottish Cup, Hibs meet Falkirk in the semi-final at Hampden, despite being 3-0 down after 30 minutes, Hibs made one of the greatest of comebacks in the cup to win 4-3. The Hibs opening goal coming from 18 year old Alex Harris who was making only his third start for the club, Leigh Griffiths scored the dramatic winner in extra time.

26th May, Hibs faced Celtic at Hampden in the final of the Scottish Cup unfortunately they were again only rewarded with runner up medals when they were beaten 3-0.
