7th August, Gordon Smith died aged 80. During his time with Hibs he played 544 competitive games and scored 359 goals.
October, Hibs Ladies played in the UEFA Cup in Belgium, despite winning their first two games 5-0 against Croatian side ŽNK Maksimir and 3-2 Belgium’s KFC Rapide Wezemaal, they went out of the tournament after losing 4-1 to ZFK Masinac Classic Niš from Serbia and Montenegro.
20th November, Hibernian Ladies won the Premier League Cup 6-1 against Raith Rovers.
14th December, Rod Petrie, the club’s Managing Director, took over the duties of Non Executive Chairman of Hibernian Football Club following the resignation of Ken Lewandowski.
Mowbray relied on younger players who had progressed through the youth system including the likes of Garry O’Connor, Derek Riordan, Scott Brown, Kevin Thompson, Steven Whittaker and Steven Fletcher, a group of players later to be known as ‘Teenage Kicks’.
9th April, having beat Dundee United the week before in the league Hibs lost to them in the Semi-final of the Scottish Cup, 2-1.
May, Mowbray in his first season as a manger led Hibs to a third place finish; he also had the team playing attractive football. He won the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Manager of the Year award.
Hibernian Ladies missed out on winning the league after dropping three points to Glasgow City LFC who went on to win the league, they however only played 17 games whereas Glasgow City played 22 games.
14th May, Hibernian Ladies won the Scottish Cup 8-0 against Cove Rangers to complete the cup double.
Derek Riordan was named Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year.
