Happy for him but not convinced he deserved it to be honest.

It was a strong list this year, every nominee could genuinely have a case made for them.

Well done to Murray, well deserved imo.

Was he there this time?

SPOTY is a load of pish. Very much to
do with the timing of your achievement.

Fantastic night for Andy. As a previous poster said, I hope that his Hibernian F.C heritage can be broadcast loudly. Inspiration to show what hard work and dedication to a sport can achieve. Anything is possible.

Maybe this says more about me than anyone but I always think Andy Murray comes across as having a great personality.

Undoubtedly passionate about his sport with a really dry sense of humour and not afraid to be a bit self deprecating either.

I think when he said he dedicates his life to the sport that is the reason why he is so successful. Well done, a truly world class sportmen and possibly the best the UK has ever had?

Indeed, the idea that he has no personality is frankly ridiculous

Only going to be one winner tonight, no one else came close. Well done Andy, for delivering one of the greatest achievements in British sport EVER.

Indeed but there are bigger "personalities" out there and if it was judged using that criteria then someone else would win.

Very clever. :aok:

People see a few minutes of a person's true personality on TV and think they can judge them on that.

I know next to nothing about Andy Murray as a person as I've never met him and everything i do know is filtered through the media, which could well be a distortion of what he's actually like.

Aye celebrating sporting success and sacrifice is pish right enough.

No, it's a bit of fun at the end of the year and not to be taken too seriously.

So Andy has won 4 in total? Twice the main one, one young spoty and one team? Has anyone won more?

And I agree with you if that's what I said.

I'd say it's taken reasonably seriously.

His brother

Also if James Ward hadn't beaten John Isner (ranked somewhere around 80/90 places above him I think) in Glasgow in Round 1, then we wouldn't even have got to see the rest of Andy's incredible Davis Cup year given that Jamie and Dom Inglot got beaten by the Bryan brothers in the doubles that weekend.

Andy did a vast amount of work, but I don't think you can take away the contribution that others in the team made.

Twitter was a horrible place last night. One lad hoped Murray's wife has a mis-carriage. How some people can have such hatred for someone they have never met is beyond me.

Unless you a rigorous with what you look at, Twitter is always a horrible place.

It's a giant echo chamber where idiots will say the most appalling things to get a reaction.

That's horrendous, hadn't seen it myself and I'm not going to go looking for it as it will just fill me with rage. Behaviour like that is beyond my comprehension I'm afraid.

I'm going to guess these people wanted Fury to win?

I would imagine that these days it is not difficult to trace the rubbish who post this bile.

I remember Talk Sports Alan Brazil and the one and only Mike Parry discussing Andys Club allegiance. Brazil never had a clue but Mike Parry put Alan straight. " I can assure you Andy supports Hibs " said Parry. " Yes indeed he is a Heebie Jeebie " chuntered the Parry man.
