See Tottenham got permission to rebuild White Hart Lane

Interesting facade not sure what it reminds me off.

Chelsea's plans look good, too.

Although Tottenham have planning approved, they still have a number of hurdles to clear.

Good ol' Boris Johnson could still, in theory, overturn the decision while local businesses and/or individuals could (and probably will) apply for a judicial review.

Leyton Orient followed this path in 2011 when they objected to the decision to hand the Olympic Stadium to West Ham. Their application was finally rejected over two years later in the later part of 2013.

Spurs also have the problem of finding an alternative ground to play at during construction. I was speaking to a 'Yid' last night who reckons Milton Keynes is the most likely option.

Last I heard there was a business of some description (possibly a scrap merchant?) that had it's "base" behind one of the stands at White Hart Lane and had absolutely no appetite to move. However, I recently read the NFL had signed a contract to host a few games at Spurs new place over the next few years so thought it must've been sorted and the plans to whack a new stadium up were in place?

Been dealt with. They were bought out.

No way Boris will overturn this. He is massively in favour and has been beating up the dullard on Harringey Council to stop them playing silly buggers with the application. It's a major plank of his moves to regenerate Tottenham after the riots.

There 6 weeks for a JR application to be made but this scheme has already been through the system so only issues which are materially different between the previous and current application would be open for review.

Alternative ground will be a problem. They may use MK but Wenbley for the big games like London derbies.

:agree:

The development is / has been controversial, but I think there is very little standing in its way now.

At the end of the day, some local businesses and residents don't want it to go ahead, and there may be higher compensation for them. But they don't have a veto.

The lack of affordable housing in the proposed new developments is scandalous, but the local council have rolled over on that issue (as councils often do).

Housing in Tottenham is affordable enough. It's higher end stuff that it lacks. The place is already a ghetto.

I think there's a CPO so the businesses will get what their due.

While Boris is in favour of re-development, he objected, as did English Heritage, to the demolition of a number of listed buildings on Tottenham High Road. There's also a local business group/consortium of small businesses objecting.

I'm not for one minute saying that this will not be built, but as I stated in my reply, there are obstacles in place.

I do agree with your point that the area is crying out for regeneration as certain localities in the area are grim.

Not a new stadium as such but the new main stand at Anfield looks some stand. Towering over the Kop at approx double its size!
