Season 1997-98



Ready for the start of the new season, Lex Gold was appointed Club Chairman, taking over from Dougie Cromb.

3rd February, after nineteen games with only one win Duffy was sacked. In his time in charge Duffy had 48 competitive games but he had only 10 wins.

7th February, Billy McNeil stepped in to manage the team against Aberdeen, Hibs lost 3-0.

11th February, former Motherwell boss, Alex McLeish became Hibs 20th manager.

May, in the 10 games remaining McLeish only lost 4 but this was not enough to avoid relegation and Hibs finished 4 points below 9th placed Motherwell.

McLeish signed Trinidad and Tobago internationalist Russell Latapy from Portuguese side Boavista.
