Football fans own Scottish football - they just don't realise it .

All the power belongs to Supporters _ we just have to take it.

In these days of social media - this could be done easily .

Anyone older than 40 knows we have tried LC groups - it's boring 4 more games v Patrick- alloa - stenhousrmuir and if we're lucky a big club like Killie ......then the old firm join in and invariably win it .
it's boring unwanted and doomed to failure .

Why do fans put up with this nonsense .

Scottish football fans need to join forces - all supporters associations need to have a rep on board - take control _ form a union.

They can then plan action and take control by taking action :

Boycot tournaments or games
Stop buying merchandise
Boycot Sky/ BT
Boycott clubs
Boycott pubs showing EPL

This would be an extremely powerful organization that could then make its own/ influence decisions on

Summer football
Tournaments
Sporting integrity
Safety - terraces
Fan ownership
A better share of tv money as they may watch Epl but it's Scottish pounds paying for a lot of it.

Anyone remember the Warriors ! The gangs of NYC UNITING to take on the police - let's take on the Sfa - Spl - tv companies - boards who are all fleecing fans to line their own pockets .

if we want to pay the living wage - then we the fans can decide and live with the consequences .

The problem is that when folk were making the case for bigger leagues with less league games, the league cup groups was used as a way of maintaining income for clubs. Now that the game moves part way towards that, folk moan about it and write it off the next day.

I'm 'meh' about the LC groups but ffs, anything that punishes Hibs (or any club that needs the income) isn't the way to go.

Never going to happen as fans of different clubs want different things. We also have the saga of Rangers or The Rangers still ongoing and many Hibs fans don't feel Hearts were punished for their years of financial doping. Our third rate league will continue to wither until it dies. TV money has killed the game and we've suffered more than most because of the English leagues have pots more than us. Even Celtic struggle to pay salaries of English Championship clubs.

The league cup reconstruction could work if it's tied into league reconstruction but for me the big change has to be to summer football that way we are not competing directly with England

Here are my thoughts

Boycot tournaments or games - Boycotting games hits the clubs income, so not a good idea
Stop buying merchandise - Hits the clubs income, so not a good idea
Boycot Sky/ BT - I already do, but I can't see it working as there seems to be a lot of folks that want to watch English and European football at every opportunity
Boycott clubs - See above!!
Boycott pubs showing EPL - Where would you suggest going to socialise??

Summer football - I'm for it, but others have already suggested it would put people off buying season tickets as they would miss games during holidays
Tournaments - Such as? The revised League Cup is a Tournament
Sporting integrity - define? As we know some play by the rules, others don't
Safety - terraces Not sure what this is supposed to mean, there is a movement to introduce safe standing already
Fan ownership - We are already going down that route
A better share of tv money as they may watch Epl but it's Scottish pounds paying for a lot of it. - Market forces

if we want to pay the living wage - then we the fans can decide and live with the consequences . - People already complain about ticket prices

The spirit of James Connolly - What has this got to do with football?

Actually, in that film, the gangs of New York united to attack a group who were wrongly accussed of murder.

I think you need to find a new Analogy

Social media may make certain things easier but it doesn't mean taking power (whatever that means) is easy. In some cases social media makes folks uniting more of a challenge. I guess by your username your not local? But wondered if you'd followed the evolution of what was Lets Work Together and now Working Together.

Supporters trusts need time to to establish themselves. If you try to run before you can walk things come unstuck. The clue is in the name - trust it's something to be earned - that's a challenge for a group of folks that
might never have never met.

If we want to change we need to build relationships and gain consensus.

I imagine the Hibees (WorcesterHibee?) could give his perspective on being that pioneer - pulling together a survey to gather the groundswell opinions of football fans and the challenge that would be taking it further.

Although I utterly cannot say that I agree with the original poster's Warriors sentiment (if you've seen the film, you ken how it pans out!) Solidarity is no thing to scoff at - in this day and age of social media and instant communication there should be unity under a group of core beliefs shared by all. I'd imagine them to be:

- better football
- better players
- more fans
- better atmosphere
- more money in the game
- more money in respective club

What that doesn't entail is cutting off basic profit of ticket prices and merchandise and tv revenues. People will always want to buy a football kit or a wallet emblazoned with their Clubs crest. People will always want to watch the world's best teams in HD in their local over a pint or two. These are givens and there's nothing wrong with them.

What a 'Scottish Football Fans' Union' would need to gather around is a few basic principles. Get the core demographic through the turnstiles as frequently and easy as possible, and branch out from there through marketing and incentives.

Make attending games as accessible and attractive as possible for every club in regards to their individual circumstances and for every club i.e. Old Firm have little problem getting people in and making money, a small provincial club has every problem.

Be it through local advertising campaigns, making said club a pillar of their community and making it something synonymous with the area as much as possible. Make the match day experience something fresh and interesting and regular to people's lives. Make it something people want to come back to every fortnight. To manufacture this sentiment is no mean feat, it takes years for people to buy in and trust anything but with persistence and support and a narrative that makes it all worthwhile it can be done to make the best of a clubs circumstances - Hibs JUST seem to be realising this and are in better fettle than the vast majority of clubs in the country - imagine how well we can do (and therefore Scottish football) if we were to all start fulfilling our individual potential? Hearts and Aberdeen also have a buoyancy about them as they're also starting to make the most of their circumstances. Make the individual club better for the collective best of Scottish football.

A body that supports all clubs to make the absolute most of their potential is exactly what it's about. If we're all strong, we can all compete and all improve and will all benefit, be it financially, emotionally, entertainment-wise - competitive leagues and clubs making the most of their circumstances, bringing through youth (we've seen all kinds of clubs bring through talent over the years) and we will have competition for national squads, we will attract more money and better players, which will attract more fans. Overall, cooperating with each other in achieving these shared beliefs in the collective interest of a better Scottish football for all.

We will leave this to you. As this is your brilliant idea to take the game forward I'd hate to step on your toes and take any credit

The poster's came up with a valid conversation to be had, and regardless of how much or little I or you agree with it or not, would it be alright if you gave it a constructive response?

I can only advise people not to go back to this film unless you enjoy camping it up. Stick with the memory of watching it at the house of the one guy you know that had a VCR along with with 20 others, followed by a marathon three-card brag session where cheating was rife.

Ain't going to happen. Scottish football has a civil war going on at the moment - supporters are far more interested in dissecting past events rather than working together to plan a better future.

I will not engage in any activity which hurts my club. No boycotts, no refusing to buy from the clubstore or any of that nonsense.
I will not "Team up" with fans of the Old Firm or Hearts to make some point as I have nothing I want to say to any of them ad nothing in common with them.

However if you want to do something useful, go and convince people to come to Easter Road. You know the sorts.... sit in pubs on match days and refuse to go to games as they trot out excuse after excuse yet still blether on about how much of a Hibee they are. The club has done just about everything to re engage yet some are not interested.

Get rid of the SFA and start again.

The LC changes are to allow a bigger league, so as to guarantee The Rangers top flight football season.

The SFA is run to advance one club ahead of any other, the rest of Scottish football could mobiiise to cleanse that shower of..... Look at what's happening at FIFA and IAAF, cycling before that...
