No surprise to be honest. Fully expect Stubbs to be here come the end of the season.

Stubbs on shortlist for reading job....breaking news

What do they mean by a shortlist? Is it a wish list of people they would like to consider? In which case it's a so what situation. Or is it a shortlist, drawn up after approaches and longlist interviews have taken place? I know which one I think it will be.

Football is bad for the teeth right enough

Any word yet on whether Stubbs thinks he is custodian of a bag of sweets and whether he views Reading as another bag? If so he might end up contending with Colin Calderwood for the managers job at Mr. Simms.

Stubbs should stay and see the job through. Reading sound like a bit of a shambles.

Jurgen Klopp would be on my shortlist for next Hibs manager. Doesn't mean it will happen.

Respectfully :greengrin, I don't think such an exercise is appropriate in the present optimistic climate we are in at the moment, even for fun.

Sky Bet have the best price on Stubbs for Reading at the moment, 40/1. Nigel Pearson 6/5 favourite and Denis Bergkamp has had his odds slashed since late last week.

Aye, but if they want to helicopter him in the odds will lengthen pretty drastically :cb

I think Warburton should now be repectfully referred to as 'Aretha'.

With respect, I think that's quite disrespectful to the bread man. He, respectfully, has a job to do in achieving 2nd place with the rangers and both respectfully and disrespectfully holding press conferences to respectfully comment on other teams in a disrespectful manner. With respect.

Mid table and surprisingly only 9 points off 3rd place ..... I cant see Reading handing this gig to a young manager with a season and a third in the Scottish championship under his belt while a play off place is still in their sights.

As for Alan Stubbs himself. He can afford to bide his time .. if he fails to get Hibs promoted nobody outside of Scotland is going to notice, if he takes us up it will be a tick on his CV.

The only time I'll worry about AS leaving Hibs is in the unlikely event that Celtic come calling or an English club west of the Pennines targets him.

If there is a shortlist and the front runner is evens or thereabouts, then to make it a long list and ultimately bring some interest to the story, spurious names get pulled in for novelty value. Nothing to see here.

A very respectful post KTF ..... I respectfully agree with it. Respect :aok:

Do these short list creators not have a wider assessment approach - it seems it's Stubbs or Warburton for any vacancy...what about McInnes? Neilson (or his puppet master Levein), Tommy Wright

Surely they have each a better CV currently .

If Reading could wait until after the Geordies v the Scousers match they could land Steve McLaren.

Stubbs knows he'll be offered better jobs once the season's finished and we've won the treble, so he'll be going nowhere before the summer.

I don't think they do. They were let down badly by Zingarevich but the new owners seem to have them back on an even keel. I think they threw a lot of cash at Clarke's project (£2.5m to take Vydra on loan apparently) and Madejski's down to his last nine Bentleys, so they don't really want to be spending a lot more. Apparently Pearson's out of the picture because he would cost too much - that probably rules out paying fees for Stubbs or Sunblest.

They have a very good squad, but they need to get this appointment right - I think they'd see Stubbs as too inexperienced.
