Season 1986-87



9th August, Rangers kicked of the season at Easter Road with their new player/manager, Graeme Souness, he lasted only 37 minutes before he was dismissed for two desperate tackles on George McCluskey. Hibs went on to win 2-1. A crowd of 24,576 watched the game, the largest crowd in 25 years.

15th November, after only 4 league wins and a 3-1 defeat to Saint Mirren, Blackley joined the ranks of former managers.

Tommy Craig, Blackley’s assistant took over the management role while a replacement was found.

December, St Mirren’s manager, Alex Miller was given the Hibs job. Miller appointed Peter Cormack as his assistant.

Nup. There were dozens of attendances bigger than 24,000 in the 25 years leading up to that game.

Yeah definitely. Off the top of my head almost 50,000 for that Cup game against the huns in 73, about 48,000 for a league game against celtc when we lost 4-2 plus many derbies with 30,000+ crowds. It was maybe the biggest home crowd since we went back up.
