Season 1974-75



August, Tom Hart took over the role of Chairman and Managing Director.

August, Jimmy O’Rourke was transferred to St Johnstone for £15,000.

11th September, Alan Gordon scored Hibs their 500th League Cup goal in a 3-3 draw with Kilmarnock in a quarter-final match.

26th October, Hibs again faced Celtic at Hampden, but lost 6-3 in the League Cup Final.

6th November, after beating Rosenborg 12-3 on aggregate, Hibs lost 0-4 away to Juventus after a 4-2 home defeat.

December, Hibs finances required them to sell Alex Cropley to Arsenal for £150,000

Alan Gordon was also sold to Dundee for £13,000

May, Hibs again split the ‘old-firm’ in the league and come second to Rangers. Despite this, the gates at Easter Road were in decline.

Yep, selling Jimmy O'Rourke started the first slump in my Hibs love affair. Then Gordon and Cropley followed and it was always going to be a race to the bottom. Best attacking line up in Scotland and Tom Hart thought it needed the wee fat Harper bloke. Gutted I was

Surely it was Eddie Turnbull who was the driving force behind Harper's signing?
