Was pretty impressed with Livi at times - couple of good saves from Oxley (and a couple of great throw outs) played a big part in the win, though we could easily have been ahead before that with the chances we created.
Keatings and Cummings could have had a hat trick each, not bad given we didn't have a very good night. McGeough coming on changed the game, I think.
All in all a good night's work.

That was pretty brutal but job done. Keatings is a cracking finisher.

Don't recognise some of the views on Livi here. They were decent and caused us plenty problems. They probably should have scored twice before they did.
Yes we deserved to win but they were ok.
Not sure how they are so far down the league, they have a few decent players and are an awkward side to play against.
Not great at all tonight but McGeouch did well when he came on and Keats is some finisher. Fontaine looked as if he was toiling, hopefully Hanlon will be back on Saturday. If not I wonder if Forster might start as Fonts struggles on that surface at Alloa at the best of times.

Top marks to Oxley for some superb saves at 0-0. Keatings knocked one off the line too.
Great strikes from Keatings, another quality assist from McGinn.
I'm ecstatic with the win. I was one of those was jittery and had a funny feeling about the game so delighted to get the 3 points however it was achieved. Dodgy weather conditions, poor pitch, key player missing, crap atmosphere, Craig Thomson - brilliant to grind out a win.
Livi can absolutely cause Rangers problems at the weekend. Big, strong side, strong at set pieces, decent on the break - they offered more than most teams have at ER this season.
The main point in all this is in previous season we would have had a bad game and lost now we have a bad game and win

Keating Motm.
John McGinn for me. Another tremendous performance and an excellent set up for Keatings first. A few crucial saves from the Ox again. Thought the team played with much more urgency when McGeough appeared. Crucial three points.

Well football sides, fairly obviously.
How many away teams have you watched at ER? They put up a decent performance but, they're nowt special. Although the way folk were keeking themselves at HT in the FF Upper you'd think it was Bayern Munich we were playing.

Am I correct in saying we are undefeated at ER in the league this season?
Only lost 1 game at home all season and that was that nonsense cup.

Not the greatest performance tonight but we got the 3 points which is all that matters.

Livingston gave us more than a few problems tonight. I don't think anyone's comparing them to Bayern but they caused us more bother than most sides that have come to ER this season.

Did anyone else see Jason Cummings rubbing his hands on the wet turf, using it to slick back his hair...
Unbelievable scenes :greengrin
Just home, abso freezing.
2 great finishes from Keatso was the difference. McGeough was very good when we came on. Lewy and McGregor were solid. Fyvie and Fontaine were poor, Fonts all over the place, their number 9 run him ragged whole game. Fyvie was so slow, his attempted shot when 1 on 1 was shocking. The rest all get pass marks.
7800 is a horrific crowd, everyone that went tonight should get two tickets for the semi! Should be no complaints from anyone if they don't get a ticket!
Oh, that moment was class :greengrin

Didn't play great but won and that's what matters. Did anyone think that McGinn looked tired. he wasn't his usual self but did play a great ball in for Keatings first goal though.

I thought McGinn was great again. A couple of great covering runs back, some excellent balls that cut through their defence, set up Boyle well in the first half and a great drop of the shoulder to get one on one with the keeper, should have buried that one. I had him just ahead of Keatings for motm. He will be tired though, lot of big games for him recently

I don't think John McGinn ever looks tired. Another great game tonight. The boy just gets better every time I see him. What a signing.

Livingston are easily tbe biggest team in the league. Their goalie was the smallest man in the team. If they dont panic they'll give Sevco another hard game. Great result given we were firing on about 2 cylinders

If Boyle and Cummings had taken their chance we'd have been out of sight by half time. Their keeper made a few good saves. The Ox also played his part but if we had taken out chance we would have won at a canter. Their CF gave LF a really tough game. They are a very big side and will give Rangers a game.

Sat in west upper tonight close to exec seats. Saw Darren Jackson in the back row. Also had a couple next to us the girl was a hibs fan the big guy said nothing first half and then started cheering on livi, clearly a Hun. Mrs told me after we left he was saying dive etc towards the end when we were timewasting.

have to give Livi credit for their performance tonight, very well organised and played some nice football, i think that was possibly the best performance from an away team at ER this season(imo) shocker pass from lewis that led to their goal which thankfully didn't cost us points and he looked a bit gutted heading back to the centre spot, Livi will start climbing the table(starting this sat would be nice) with they type of performances and they've already had a couple of great results recently, JC really should have put us ahead early in the 1st half though after taking the ball around the keeper in a one on one, keatings 2nd was a cracker :agree: oh aye and it wiz freeeezin man

From the first goal till livvys goal we played well and should've scored about 5 in that period. Cummings could easily have had a hat trick tonight.

Poor first half but Cummings and Boyle spurned great chances. Much better after McGeoch came on and 2 good finishes from Keatings. Sloppy goal given away from a hoof up the park.
Another 3 points against a team Newco only beat with the last kick of the ball. GGTTH!

In an attempt to out pedant a pedant, the nor loch has merely ceased to exist. The nor loch will always have been wet, even if it is no longer here!
Just to add some more pedantry, the Nor Loch was man-made. It was a marsh before that, so it was wet - but not as wet as a loch! Or my socks.
Did livi show enough tonight for folks to think they'll cause rangers problems at the weekend.
I thought their big number 9 was impressive and held the ball up very well. Don't think Fontaine won a challenge in the air against him all night. If he'd had a decent partner playing off him, they would have been much more of a threat.
Jordan White scored a few for them last season as well, also thought he did well tonight. They might cause rangers problems, but then we had plenty chances tonight to win more comfortably.

Apart from The Rangers I would agree that they are best team we have played at the San Siro this season. But if you're being deliberately awkward and asking if they are one of the best sides to be seen at ER over the course of the years then you're just being silly.

We were laboured in the first half, but still made a few decent chances, only Cummings will know how he missed after opening the goal up for a relatively easy shot.
We were much better in the 2nd half and both goals were crackers, McGeouch made a real difference when he came on and it was a lovely ball by McGinn for the first goal and a beautiful shot from Keatings for the 2nd.
Their goal was all down to a daft decision by Lewis who after doing really well to intercept the ball played a silly pass along the deck which put everybody on the back foot when a Livvi player easily won the ball.
Hibs deserved to win, but Livingston made life pretty difficult for us and certainly aren't the worst team to come to ER this season, if they can carry the wee bit of luck they had tonight into the weekend it wouldn't be beyond them to get a draw.

Keatings found his level according to Preston
Not what he said, maybe listen again?
There's folk on here that don't listen to the radio and take the word of people like you - the least you could do is be accurate?

I've just watched the opening goal on Hibs TV and it truly was superb.
It had the lot, brilliant build up play, great off the ball movement followed by a clinical finish.
More of that please.

Livi might not be the best team at ER this season but that was certainly one of the better performances Ive seen from the away team this season.
Both Cummings and Keatings could have had hat tricks. Henderson, Fyvie and Boyle all passed up half decent chances. On another night it could have been a comfortable victory, but the three points is the most important thing.

Maybe we should acquire Livi's big centre forward. he seems a good header of the ball and our scorers could feed off him.

I agree Matty, but that game could so easily have turned out very differently indeed, the game swung from end to end at times and we had numerous chances to bury it, but they had a couple of very good chances to be fair, which the OX did superbly at.
For once lady luck smiled on us,and long may it continue. I am fast running out of superlatives for McGinn, Keatings finishing was sublime.
A real gritty performance from them was more than matched by us on a tricky surface I really do think we avoided a potential banana skin last night, they had nothing to lose and had a go, I hope they perform as well against Rangers.
All in all a fantastic 3 points and I am feeling absolutely chuffed as punch at being a Hibby this wet and otherwise gloomy afternoon. :aok:

I was chuffed that we seemed to lift it quite a bit during the middle part of the second half.
We started the second half a bit slowly but Livi were playing well so credit to them.
But we got the goal (against the run of play you might say) and went on to dominate for 20 minutes or so.
Normally this is the time of game when our half-time spliff and chug are kicking in and we go lethargic.
But yesterday we raised our game nicely, which was good to see.

Defo and we got him on a 4 year contract. I just thought the games against Rangers StMirren and Ukraine took a wee bit out of him as he put in some shifts in those games. Great signing and I'm sure much better performances ahead.
