Season 1970-71



Local building contractor Tom Hart joined the Hibs board. Hart had once been a player for Manchester United.

6th December, McFarlane resigned over dispute on team selection.

December, Perth born former Manchester City player Dave Ewing was appointed manager.

January, Joe Baker returned to Hibs, he scores and Hibs win their first game in 9 under Ewing, 2-1 against Aberdeen.

February, William P Harrower become Club President.

May, Hibs ended the season in 12th place and Dave Ewing resigned.

The season, Hibernian became my team. If memory serves first match was the SC SF. Enjoying these daily posts. Looking forward to the coming years.

Against Rangers I believe, a nd it went to a replay.

David Ewing was a strange appointment, who never seemed comfortable with the managerial reins.

He did have admirers as a coach though.

One thing he did make his mark at was in the semi final against Rangers, when he told all and sundry..."Rangers are rubbish"

You can imagine how the media played with that comment!
