15th December, Lawrie Reilly was awarded a testimonial; Hibs played an International Select and won 9-3, Hibs goals came from: Baker 2, Ormond 2, Fox, Preston and Turnbull.
1959, Gordon Smith is give a free transfer, after 544 first team games and 359 goals. He had required surgery which he paid for himself. He then joined Hearts where he won League and League Cup winners medal.
Eddie Turnbull gave up playing after 349 games and 150 goals. He took up a coaching role with Hibs.
Bobby Johnstone was bought back from Manchester City for a fee of £6,000.
