Plays with the brain of a thirty year old vet. An absolute joy to watch. Would have been interesting to see him and Allan in our midfield.

Magnificent performance from him today.

He's a superb player and we've done well to get him.

It's been good to see how well he has done in the Aberdeen and Rangers games against good opposition as it is different to running rings round Dumbarton and Alloa but he's stood up to very challenge we've put in front of him and come out on top.

We need to get promoted this year though because - like Scott Allan - he's far too good to be playing in the Scottish Championship.

Although I think the pressure to win every week (as we have at the moment) is a good thing for a player to experience and should stand him in good stead for the future.

???? I thought there were quite a few ahead of McGinn for m-o-t-m today. He had a honking first half! Completely messed up a great chance when Malonga sent him clear, constantly hoofing aimless balls forward, never got past his man and had Lewis to thank for sweeping up everything behind him.
Second half was a completely different story. Lots of good touches, good deliveries and solid tackles. He got a lot more space when they went 4-4-2 and his superior fitness shone through.

What a player for such a young age, brilliant today and with a 4 year deal what a player to have.

The rest of the midfield today were fantastic as well but when Dylan went off (not another hamstring!!!) it took the wind out our sails a bit. Fyvie looked gone though and was treading water but we did it so Well done to all of them.

I'm from down south so rarely get to see Hibs, especially as they're hardly on TV anymore! But to me he looked like a central midfielder playing out wide today, albeit one who done a good job. I'd have liked to see him more central and involved though.

Absolutely no chance he goes for more money than Brown. That kind of money does not exist in Scottish football anymore and I can't see an English club giving us circa £5 million quid.

Why not? The money down in England is mental. Swansea, I think, paid TRFC £1m for Lewis McLeod who had only played a handful of 1st team games. They will pay big money for potential and John McGinn has tons of it.

We will not get close to £5 million for John McGinn, let's be serious here.

He is on a 5 yr deal and with HSL money hopefully we can play hardball when clubs come knocking and knowing the daily ****** will have everyone and their dog after him when we play Sevco just before the January transfer window

It a real sign of the times that there are already posts reflecting on what we get when we sell McGinn...can't we just enjoy his play ???

Tis the way of things :agree:

Only 3 things in life are inevitable:

Death
Taxes
And some rich club hoovering up your best player.

McGinn is a good young player playing in a poor league. He'll be a very good player in time but has a lot of developing to do.Once he gets into the frame for the top 7/8 players with a chance of playing midfield for Scotland bigger clubs may take an interest but until then we'll have him.

There are more than likely a few teams who would look at him now that he is playing with us rather than last season with St Mirren when they were being pinned back all season. He makes players around him perform and then he gets the benefit back from playing in a better team. Puts me in mind of Liam Miller in that when he is on form then so are the rest of the team .

Agreed - folks jumping the gun a bit here. If he continues to progress he'll be very decent player. In Scotland the only club who could afford him are Celtic, and he won't be on their radar for a while as they are trapped by finances and fan expectations into buying average finished articles rather developing outstanding potential. He seems a smart cookie so I reckon he'll be here at least 2-3 more seasons to continue his progress. I think the big threat/move might come from England/Europe for those aforementioned reasons.

Even though they can't even remotely afford McGinn Sevco will 'respectfully' start making daily offers for him in the run up to Christmas knowing full well that the team will be unsettled prior to an otherwise winnable game at Ibrox on the 28th.
Eventually Warburton will make a respectful final offer of £100k to test Alan Stubbs' resolve leading on to Celtic buying him in the transfer window to help Scott Allan collect the balls after the pre-match warm up!

McGinn's grandad was former Celtic chairman Jack McGinn.

The Sons of Struth would hold a protest at talk of signing a tarrier . :greengrin

Good to see the man shopping locally - presumably either lives locally or AS had them in tonight.
Sainsburys has been a good place to spot a player or two Benjy, Zitelli, Zemamma all been in over the years. And no I don't approach - just let them get on with life...

Didn't know that. Don't care about his background only his talent which is very good and sure to get better. I hope we don't overplay it be he really is some prospect and he is driving on the likes of Henderson mcgeoch and Cummings to perform better.

Most St Mirren fans I know thought he had a poor season for them last season ,but said he had potential .Once again Stubbs has found a way to bring that talent and potential out and add some He just seems to get better and better

Stubbs didn't bring it out. It was, surely, already there?

Still think he is absolutely fantastic and getting better each game.

Ok ,Stubbs and the coaching staff have helped him enjoy his football again ,and have found a way to fit him into the team and get the best out of him ,which is in turn benefitting the team .
