Tomorrow see's the the start of the Scottish Labour Party conference. I will be attending, been to well over 25 Labour conferences over the years. Obviously never attended any others conference, except protesting outside the Tories, but the question I have is do many .netters attend political conferences and do they think they are worthwhile ? This year we will have " members Sunday" where the members decide what's debated and voted on. (I'll miss it to due Hibs) but again I'm not sure off the relevance of it. So are party conferences anything more than rallies and a weekend of socialising?

Ignore my last question
Yes it is. I sullied my work PC by looking on Scottish Labour website.

It's bizarre that a few posters can't even give a simple mention of Labour on this forum without something 'wittily' insulting. All very schoolboy-ish. That's ignoring the complete lack of respect that Lucky gets when attempting to start a conversation.

That is the way of a section of the SNP support though.
Shouting people down, shouting abuse at people who disagree. Name calling - harping back to bygone eras where its us against them.

I've never attended one but have wondered what it would be like "in the flesh", I quite enjoy watching some of the live TV reporting (of all parties) :agree:

When I first started going you can get a bit star struck. It's amazing what you see and hear in early mornings in the bars. The journalists are just as bad/good as the politicians. I'm looking for to Corbyn speaking tomorrow. But as Labour are out of power the conference won't be as busy or frantic as when the cabinet are there.

To be fair, given how much of his time on here he spends defending the SNP, it's an easy mistake to make.

I've never been to a political party conference, although I've been to conferences where politicians have spoken. I'm not sure I'd enjoy it, seems quite stage managed.

I've not got a political bone in my body but, I still enjoy the threads on here, the levels of bitchiness are hilarious. :-)

My party conference was in the Clyde auditorium a couple of weeks ago but I had other plans so missed it. Spring conference is in Dundee.

Do you think the debate on Trident will get the go ahead? JC won't be there on Sunday so I'm not sure the Scottish party will be willing to discuss it in his absence.

Think it's a certainty, but like like JC I won't be there on Sunday but we will be voting for it to be debated today. This might surprise some on here but there is an air of optimism around the conference but I not sure where it's come from or if it will translate in to votes but many delegates believe the fight back has begun.
I hope Corbyn's speech is about Labour rather than anti SNP. He talks of a new politics without the hate and spite. I'm hopefully this weekend will be about Labour and its vision for Scotland not just attacking the SNP

I'm not long arrived at work, in the same street as the Conference venue, and was surprised there didn't appear to be the road closures and restrictions that there has been for party conferences in the past. Enjoy yourself.

Corbyn is definitely growing on me and when I move, I'll be exactly the type of voter that he's looking to sway.
However, bashing the Tories over Tax credits is like shooting fish in a barrel.
The real test will come when Labour starts to unveil policies of its own instead of kicking them all into the long grass.

Had a wander round the city centre (Perth) at lunchtime but didn't see anybody I recognised from the LAbour party.

Mostly just dotting the i's and crossing the T's although sometimes the conference can give the leadership a kicking. Land reform sent back, at the SNP conference for instance.
Great socialising though. Enjoy yersel.

Really good speech from Kez Dugdale some good policy announcements on education, living wage and tax credits. Sadly we won't get near power to implement them.
