Season 1945-46



Sixteen year old Lawrie Reilly signed for Hibs.

18th September, Hibs beat Hearts 6-2 in the final playing of the Wilson Cup. The trophy was first contested in 1906, Hearts won the trophy 21 times and Hibs 14.

16th February, Hibs again ended the league as runners-up to Rangers. Rangers won all of the six Scottish Southern Leagues which were contested during the war.

15th June, the league cup had been renamed the Victory Cup and Prime Minister Clement Attlee was in the crowd to witness Hibs quarter final replay victory against Partick Thistle. Hibs eventually lost 3-1 to Rangers in the Final.

20th June, Hibs undertook a four game tour of Czechoslovakia where they beat Sparta Prague 3-1 in front of a crowd of 40,000.

Sixteen year old Bobby Johnstone signed for Hibs.
