Not sure the two figures are comparable...one was £20k for a defined cause (healthy eating) the other for, well so far undefined usage. One was publicly known the other kept quiet.
Not that I'm a big fan of governments spending huge sums on healthy eating campaigns and the like as it's pretty hard to gauge the returns of such spending but at least that had a purpose and a reason. I've yet to see quite why T needed £150k of public money and I've yet to see any justification of it from the SNP. I fail to believe that the money was a make or break payment for the organisers and fully believe that he would have successfully moved the festival without it.
The business is hugely profitable, who cares that he needed to reinvest some of those profits to ensure they could keep the festival going and no doubt reap further huge gains down the road...certainly gives zero justification to me for a quick snuffle in the public purse.

I for one have reservations about what is said by DF Concerts in that article.
I think it’s fair to say we had as many archaeologists and ornithologists working at T in the Park as we had artists. It cost us an absolute fortune.” really???!!!!
OK Mr Ellis, how many archaeologists and ornithologists worked at T in the Park, and why?

Depending what drugs has been consumed many archaeologists, ornithologists and pink elephants were witnessed :)

I haven't really read anything about this, but I assume he means in relation to the various environmental impact studies that were required before the move to the new site was agreed.

I can't see there being over120 people involved in the archaeological survey or bird watching. Willing to be proved wrong if there is evidence to the contrary.

given that you were against TITP in Strathallan from the start, its hardly surprising you're finding fault.

Do we have to get permission from the Unionist triumvirate prior to posting on the conclusion of a story on these threads these days?

And rightly so in this case. It really did look a bit dodgy at the time though. :greengrin

Will those of us who criticise anything involving the SNP go on to a list of "those who talk Scotland down"? Perhaps we'll get a visit from the Scottish Resistance if we buy Tunnocks Tea cakes?
I'm a democratic socialist btw (ex-yes voter, ex-SNP ) whose blinkers came off and sees little progressive policies from the SNP.
Not a nationalist or a unionist... a socialist.
Hope that helps.

So your post above was supposed to be adding to the debate as a "socialist". I've been out of the loop for a few days, and I've come on here to post up something on the conclusion of a story which many on here were giving it LARGE on. If only those same people would come on and say they were wrong to draw the conclusions they did. I won't hold my breath though.
You can continue to criticise anything to do with the SNP, I don't see anybody stopping you. I do however see snidey remarks re the FRB and Lego songs.
You'd be better leaving the Scottish Resistance to the likes of David Torrance though. He wears the jersey better than most.

So that's different from cliches like "Yoons" or"Red Tories" and posting links from Wings over Bath.
The Lego songs thing is a bit of fun, but perhaps it's closer to the mindset of some SNP types than they would admit.
As for the FRB, it hasn't been handled well. I'm a daily commuter that is affected when it's closed so perhaps I'm entitled to be pissed off about happy clappy nonsense spouted by your fellow travellers about a bridge that they probably don't use. The only person/organisation emerging with any credit over the FRB fiasco was Scotrail who were excellent.

If in my case at least, by 'unionist' you mean someone who doesn't belong to a political party, forms their own opinions and doesn't trot out political spin in a similar vein to a particularly on-message politician, you've got me pegged.

It doesn't seem to matter what the topic is now, people's views are dismissed on the grounds that they are a Unionist. It's one of the nastier legacies of the referundum.

The Unionist term certainly wasn't in common useage before the referundum. You may remember I said I was uncomfortable with it when it first started to appear given the connotations it carries amongst the bigots of both sides on the West Coast.
I'm really not sure that the term Nationalist is used in the same way but that might just be my perception. I guess I just struggle to understand why the term Unionist should be used when the topic being discussed in nothing to do with where we are governed from. It serves no purpose and certainly isn't going to help us win people over to our side.

Maybe we should just sing the Lego song and be done with it then.
Back on topic...It's nice to see the responses from this morning's posters regarding the subject matter. Hyslop was not to blame in any way. (Tumbleweed smiley).

FWIW I think there was more of a question about grants amounting to £450k in the previous years when TITP was at Balado. Consider this, inthe 6 years up to 2014 TITP donated£450k to local charities, yet received the same amount from the Scottish Government in 3 years.
