Following on from my Leeann Dempster interview, I had some time with Colin Millar to get his perspective on how Hibernian is changing.

You can read his interview here:

Feedback welcome!

Colin's passion for Hibs (and the scran at the Mash Tun) knows no bounds, I can personally attest to that.

If you ask nicely, he'll tell you all about that one time his family won "Scotland's most sports mad family" or similar from the Sun. :greengrin

Seriously though, it's slightly odd - in a very good way - to know that someone you've sat with, grumbled over our "fortunes" and shared a sly pint or 4 with is in a position to effect real and positive change "from the inside" at Hibs.

I found through this process of doing the interviews for the blog, that everyone is tuned in to delivering at the highest standard for Hibs just now.

There is a clear club 'behaviour' that runs through what the staff are doing.

Leeann came out with a great line when we were chatting, she said she didn't want a culture where Hibs are afraid to bring in top people in case the people in role were worried that they might take over, she said it was important that the bar was always being raised, and it was up to the people there to raise their game.

That's a great ethic to have.

I was deeply heartened, sorry "Hibened", by what I saw and heard from everyone so far.

If we don't get up, if the club doesn't get back to where it belongs as soon as possible, it definitely won't be for the want of trying.

Hibs are, as far as I can see, doing everything they possibly can to get this right for the first team, for the support, and for the football club.

IMHO, I have seen nothing that would make me hesitate to back them.

They deserve -the club deserves - our backing.

It's time to get back to Easter Road, get back to see and support Hibs, and get on board. The only thing that will hold back Hibs just now is when they hit a wall with resources. We can help with that.

:agree: Agree totally. Good to see one of the original 'party train' members working at Hibs, well deserved and good to see a familiar face in an influential role at Hibs.

I dont know the guy personally, but his passion certainly comes across in the article.

I do find it a bit strange that we would hire someone to oversee our comms who has no professional background in comms - im sure we wouldnt do that in other specialist positions. I only say that because its an area i feel is key, and that in my opinion we have been dreadful at in recent years.

Our comms with fans has been chronic. Colin is a fan that has been on the end - as have we all- of that "treat them like mushrooms" policy of old.

Having known how bad it was and felt the same frustration as the comms department's core target is as good, if not better, a qualification than a degree tbh.

I'm not having a go at him, and i hope he does a great job. I just think it sounds very unprofessional that such a key role at the club, which has been so bad for so long, is filled on the basis of a car journey and is given to someone with no professional experience. If we filled our commercial manager, or catering manager, or first team coach's role like that, it wouldn't be very kindly viewed on here would it?

And yeah, I hear what you are saying about the fans thing, but by that rationale 8,000 people would be qualified for the job.

Anyway, i understand that you are sticking up for your mate, so i'm not going to say anymore, because i don't want to sound like i'm attacking the guy. Hopefully he does a great job.

No problems at all. I'm sure he'll do a belting job, cos if he doesn't his brothers, Dad and rest of Hibs daft family will be bending his ear about it in about 2 seconds flat :greengrin

I think it's worth pointing out that Colin would have been involved in the communications coming from the club for some time, so is not coming into that role without any relevant experience.

Another great interview, thanks for this.

What's the chances of a weekly or monthly in depth player/ coach interviews?
