He was superb, as was fontaine.

Seems a shame to miss out McGregor who I don't remember doing much wrong either.

Good to hear! Also 1st time this season he's got to play in centre of defence rather than as a right sided centre back. Also fantastic that the players have the ability to change formations & yet stop Sheep scoring for 1st time this season.

His best game in a Hibs jersey against a very formidable opposition attack. :top marks

Back 3/5 and keeper all played well tonight.

Oxley had one dodgy punch in the 1st half but a couple of good stops and a very brave save from Goodwillie in the 2nd.

Fontaine, Hanlon and McGreggor were solid and did little wrong and both Stevenson and Gray looked like the players they were for much of last season. Excellent all round at the back.

Hanlon has been excellent this season but tonight he was outstanding, against a very dangerous and on form front 3 he was simply superb.

McGregor & Fontaine didn't do a thing wrong either.

No failures but a couple of quiet games. I was surprised Fonts was named as Paul was outstanding.

Paul Hanlon had a superb match, but I couldn't pick a MOM. I just feel it was a fantastic team performance tonight capped two brilliant goals.

Hanlon was faultless tonight and MOM for me, Stevenson also drove forward at the end keeping play in their half. Great game tactics by Stubbsy very well played by every player...and the fans as well :not worth

He's been a stand-out most games this season, back to the form he showed when Butcher first came in which had him on the verge of a Scotland call-up.

Still young as well, a lot of people forget that. I think he'll go on to good things.

My MOM tonight in a game where no one really had a bad game. He was immense! Mind you, McGregor and Fontaine were not far behind.

St. Mirren game will be Paul's 200th league match for Hibs.

Well done big man.

Wikipedia(I know) has him on 197 but 2 for at Johnstone. Is 199 definitely correct?

PH has had a very good start to the season, think we are seeing the benefit of him working for a manager that wasn't too bad in that role either.

Good to see.

A great team performance from Hibs but for me Paul was a standout. Strolled through the game against some very tough to play against forwards. His distribution was top drawer again as it has been all season.

Yes, no disrepect to Liam Fontaine, but Paul Hanlon was magnificent last night.

I've been a big critic of hanlon in the past. But have to say he's proved the doubters wrong (including me). I think he's been tremedous this season in particular last night and ibrox.

Well done Paul and keep it up.

ive always been a fan of Paul, when he was going through a spell of poor form a few years ago I think it was more to do with some of the numpties he had playing beside him causing him to try and second guess what they would be doing thus pulling him out of position. When he has a partner like Liam who he can trust it allows him to concentrate on his own game and positioning, imo his positioning is his strongest asset he has the knack of reading a game and being in the right place at the right time.

My opinion is that he's a good centre half but brilliant sweeper. Reads the game very well

Is there a loyalty points system in place, with discounts, for those of us who have always been in the club? :greengrin

He's been one of our best players for the last 3 or so years - you're lucky if he's had five bad games in that time. Outstanding and we're lucky to have him :not worth

Worthy of wearing the number 4 Hibs jersey

a back three of McGregor, Hanlon and Fontaine is strong in any league in Scotland - not many strikers would relish facing those three.

The physicality of Fontaine and McGregor and the positioning and reading of Hanlon all complement one another nicely.

It was noticeable how many times Hanlon appeared to mop up a break or attacking move - a very good sweeper in a back three.

Yes to that. Sean O' Hanlon for example. I recall a long discussion (to be fair it probably meandered between two of us for far too long) regarding who was culpable for one costly error. That debate has probably magnified a dozen times since with the focus on the failings of central partnerships rather than their strengths.
I don't think Paul Hanlon has let us down, he's definitely a boy that plays for his jersey. Another debate on here questioned if he would ever be any good as a footballer! A man that has captained the team he loves, close to 200 appearances, and international caps up to U-21 level. Aye, I wish I had been that ***** like!
I don't see him as perfecting the cross field 50 yard anytime soon (sure he might know this himself), but last night demonstrated what a good defender and reader of the game he is. I would love him at Hibs the rest of his career.
