The problem is, we beat Aberdeen 2-0 who in turn beat Hearts 3-1. Now when I was a lad, that equated to us beating Hearts 5-1, therefore we've already killed them off. :agree:

Just checked the SPFL site the quarters draw is unseeded so Morton at home please.

Only in Scotland would you have to wait 5 days for a draw and for it then to take place at 2.30pm. Why is our game allowed to be run like this?

The English League cup draw has been made tonight! Seems too sensible to me.

I don't see a problem with the delay, let's enjoy tonight. If we had won, and then found after the game we were drawn away to the likes of Celtic, it might have taken the gloss off tonight.
Let's enjoy the result, get a win on Saturday, and look forward to the draw

Unbelievable that we need to wait FIVE days for the cup draw to be made!

The people running the game in Scotland really are clueless.

I'm guessing they're needing to wait a few days until they get a delivery of a ball that says "St Johnstone" on it since the pre-ordered "Sevco", sorry "Rangers" ball is no longer required!

Yeah but if we had got home to Morton and Hearts were away to Celtic then it would make tonight even sweeter. Just don't see the point in holding on so long to draw 4 ties.

The sponsors have asked for this time. It allows them additional TV coverage. It's not that big a deal when it's made. If it puts a little more cash into the pot.

AFAIK, there isn't one this season.

Nothing on the SPFL website.

That is what I thought. There was the Kilmarnock sponsor who did the semis and final last season. (Nothing to do with a new Old Firm semi of course). So it looks like it is just down to SPFL incompetence that the draw is taking place on Monday rather than last night.

Maybe its just me, but I don't see any issue with the draw on Monday. I'm enjoying last nights result, and will look forward in anticipation to the draw on Monday. In England in particular, they are having the ridiculous situation where a draw is being made and a game is still going on.

Also helps to work out who is going to the next round match if you are all together in the pub after the game.

Hibs offered it, and were happy to take the cash. There have been seasons when the buyer has "lost out". You can't say CTU are costing Club money, it's swings and roundabouts.

It has been very unusual to have every tie at home so far, that isn't the fault of CTU holder though.......If Hibs think it is costing them money, then they should do away with it, although I like the option of having it every Season.......

How would it cost the club money? League cup money isn't shared with teams so surely walk ups at home games generate more that the £0 we'd receive from away games?

I used to do it, when it went up from around £25 to £50, it was too much for me to spend on top of the 3 season tickets I already pay for.
Anyway don't want to get into any negatively on here, enjoyed last night, and if we are away to inverness/County, will be expecting a hurl in your bus😀

Some of the balls have to be left in the freezer over the weekend.

Hearts fans may be surprised at our desire to draw them. But - 1) you can't beat the build up and atmosphere of a Edinburgh Derby, especially under the floodlights, and 2) Although Neilson has done an excellent job over the last 15 months (despite their last 3 results, they are still sitting with a good tally already), his record (of performances) in big games has been pretty poor. In the 4 games against us last season they never once played particularly "well, and were very lucky to take 5 points from the 4 games. Against Rangers, they were lucky in the first game, and then both teams were particularly poor in the 2nd game. A rangers win and a snatched 2-2 draw rounded those games off. Celtic obviously smashed them last season, and then Aberdeen gave them a first half doing last weekend. Hearts fans seem to be perplexed over some of Neilsons tactical decisions in these big games. So bring them on.
