5th October, Hibs played a benefit match against Cowdenbeath in aid of a Mr Mercer, (Billy Mercer), Hibs lost 1-0.
(The Scottish Cup was withheld by the SFA after Celtic and Rangers fans rioted after a second draw. They ripped up the pitch and the wooden pay-boxes were set alight. Mounted police and the fire brigade also came under attack and in total over 100 people were injured).
