Pretty certain that our promotion was vetoed.

Good old Airdrieonians, all is forgiven! Mind you why didn't they play?

There was no promotion. You had to be elected to gain entry to the first division. A small snippet, we are the only club that has won successive championships in the top and second divisions.

Thanks, but that raises the question of who didn't vote for our election and why.

I was always led to believe that our 1894 case for promotion was vetoed by Celtic and their strong influence at the SFA. They didn't want another "Irish" club in the top flight and lobbied for Hibs not to come up no doubt getting their pals from Govan to follow suit in the voting.

Thanks - useful to know.
