Nicolas Otamendi:

'It has been my dream to play for Man City since I was a kid'.

Otamend was born in 1988, when he was 1 Manchester City were relegated to the old division 2. Between 1992 and 1995 City scrambled about the bottom the new Premiership, in 1996 they were relegated the then 1st Division and in 1998 when Otamendi was 10 they were relegated to the then 2nd division, after 2 successive promotions they were again relegated in 2001 when Otamendi was 13 years old.

Call me a boring cynic but I'm a bit sceptical that a young lad from Buenos Aires spent his youth dreaming of playing for a lower league club in England.

There must be some other examples of players talking utter nonsense.

I have always wanted to play for Celtc since I was a wee boy in Brno/Vladivostock/Ulan Bator/Mombasa/Ashu Iga...

I'm not here for the money.

I wasn't really all that big a Rangers Fan anyway.

I'm not here for the short term

To be fair he does say "a club LIKE Celtc "

It's the Old Firm equivalent of the seemingly contractual requirement of our new signings to mention the training facilities as being "incredible " when they sign for us.

I have never been to George St in my life.

I just signed the contract and know nothing about EBTs

I did not bite him.

I would walk over broken glass to play for Rangers.

Yes, I was a Ball Boy at Hearts but I didn't actually support them.

This is actually a true one for me lol... Had to do it as part of the youth setup. Always sat in front of the away fans and once even celebrated a Motherwell equiliser 😀

"Am I different player to him? I'm not sure because I've not seen much of Leigh as a player as he has mostly played up here but I'm just trying to work as hard as I can and hopefully the goals will come.

“That's the only way people will stop asking me about him."

Not really the same as the quote above. Think that was a bit of spin by the media.

Robinho has to be the worst. When he was unveiled to the media after leaving Real he was banging on about Chelsea and how great they were and how he always wanted to live in London. Wasn't until one of the journo's asked him, do you not mean Manchester and he was like erm....yeah, sorry. Best bit about the story is that upon arriving at city he was like erm....WTF, he had thought it was Utd he had signed for and came out and said he'd never even heard of city.
