Celtc qualify = less need from them for McGeouch or less need to worry about giving McGeouch his pay off?

Wishful thinking probably :)

I wonder what the profit to a level stake is betting on Leigh Griffiths as 1st goalscorer. Must be decent.

I thought this might be a close tie, but the way Celtic have started, they could finish this tonight.

Is it right that qualification would earn them around £40 million?

They would be lucky to get half that. Last time they were in the CL it brought them in around 13 million.

Nah I disagree. Coming from a keeper as well but I thought he was too busy pissing about with Griffith's rather than going round him. Surely he shouldn't be expected to get out the goalies way.

Looked like he was backing in to him rather than standing his ground but tbf there were 2 refs close by and none of the malmolians objected so I'm probably wrong :greengrin

Increased prize money this year. During the Man United match last night, Ian Darke said qualification is worth around £40 million. I thought that sounded like a lot just for making the groups.

I would imagine the TV money for English clubs dwarfs what Celtic would get and that's despite them being the only representative from Scotland.

Also the gate receipts and things like hospitality for Man Utd will be huge compared to what Celtic would take during home games.

Aye, maybe the £40 million he mentioned meant to United specifically.

Watching Valencia - Monaco 2v1 at present but Monaco look like the better team . 2 good teams though and a lot at stake . this and next week are the good matches till last 16 since group matches are often a farce ( big clubs playing weaker teams in last 2 matches if already qualified or trying to avoid Europa League after bad start etc ) . Nowv 3v1 in Valencia.

You have to fancy Malmo to go through now.

Realistically, any kind of victory for them in the second leg will see them through.

Celtic fans can console themselves in the thought that they're not Leeds fans though.

2-0 up against Bristol City after 89 minutes - 6 minutes later and it's 2-2!

Yep if only teams like Kilmarnock and ICT were able to punish Celtics mistakes and get a couple of goals against them they wouldn't have lost a late goal tonight.

Then they can concentrate on lesser matters like the league.

Making sure Hearts don't win it.

Celtc could win the CL, have an alternate side in the EL, win that, and yam would finish 20pts behind them.

Have a couple of scoops during the game?

£20M prize money for qualification to the group stage. Doesn't include match revenues. £40M is a stretch, but £30 is realistic.
