Season 1880-81



25th December, Hibernians played a friendly against the popular English team, Sheffield Holmes Zulus, a team set-up to raise money for the widows and families of the Zulu War, Hibernians won 6-0.
Admission 6d, Ladies free. Attendance 2000
Hibernians –
Goal – J. Reid, Backs – James McKearnan, Malachy Byrne, Half Backs – Patrick Cavenagh (captain), James Waugh, Forwards – Frank Rourke, Tommy Lee, Owen Quinn, McGuire, Gillie Byrne & Willie Cox

Zulus – Umlathoosi, Cetwayo, Dabulamanzi, Sirayo, Methlagazula, Unicityn, Ngobainalrosi, Maquenda, Jiggleumberrgo, Muyamani, Anatoga.

2nd April, Hibernians beat St Bernards in the final of the EFA Cup Shield 1-0 after a 4-4 draw. Hibernians retained the Cup and the competition was re-named.

April, Hibernians undertook their first tour; they played three Lancashire teams, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Olympic. They lost to both Blackburn teams, 4-2 against Rovers and 2-0 against Olympic but beat the Wanderers 3-4.
