Desperate to see out a 1-0 win.

We have no leaders and no ruthless streak.

After last week we just needed a win. Wasn't the greatest but we weren't hanging on or anything like that. Could have scored a lot more than the 1. As I said in another thread, first half we were poor but I thought they done well the second half. Cummings and Henderson were good when they came on.

I wasn't there today but we played well in a number of games last season and didn't get the deserved win so ugly winning is welcome for me.

Nothing much happened for the first 30 mins then the game came to life after we were denied a stonewall penalty. Chances for both teams but we dominated after Cummings came on.

I thought Carmichael played well on his debut and McGinn was decent. Cummings and Henderson played well when they came on.

Stubbs tactics were strange playing Malonga up front on his own for so long. As mentioned elsewhere Bartley and Fyvie can't play in the same team. I felt sorry for Bartley being subbed as he played ok but Fyvie was a different player in front of the back 4. Fish out of water til then.

Good to get the 3 points.

A very young bench we have today.

Saw Stubbsy buying it in IKEA just yesterday.

Why we played one up front with a holding midfielder at home against Morton is a mystery to me.

That aside though I thought McGinn and Henderson looked the pick of the bunch and Cummings done well when he came on. Carmichael to me didn't look 100% fit but thought he was fine while he was on. Still not convinced by the overall team performance though. What should take one pass seems to take us 4 or 5 and to be honest I can see Rangers taking 2 or 3 off our defence if we don't tighten up at the back.

Not long back from the game, I didn't think we did too badly, I can see what we are trying to achieve but we are still a long way off.

Carmichael was decent but that was his first game in months, it was just nice to have SOME width again.

I really liked McGinn, Henderson looked strong when he came on.

The team setup was odd, Malonga up front on his own but countless times in the first half he had to come deep just to get the ball.

Gray had a howling first half hour, so did Bartley. Once we settled down I don't think we were ever going to lose, but we look like a team with no pre season behind us, I reckon we will come good soon and be strong when everyone is fit. Sadly I think by that time Rangers will already have a considerable lead at the top of the table.

Poor performance today but a win is a win. Winning ugly when you're not playing well is how you win leagues - jees, the Yams showed that when they played 3 decent games all last season and romped the league.

Important to get the points we will get better no doubt. Hope Ibrox doesn't come a little too early however sure we will go there with something to prove.

maybe we played that way because that's the way we are going to play next week at Ibrox. That'd explain the inclusion of Bartley as we will probably need someone who is capable of breaking the play down on Sunday.

Maybe he took a risk in playing this formation. With a view to next weeks game?

8923 attendance.

570 from Morton.

Pretty pish.
Funny I thought nearly 9000 for a championship match was quite good, not great but certainly not pish.

Was surprised when att announced. Felt like more than that to me. Suggests only about 500 hibs walk ups - sure there were more than that queueing for tickets when I went in.

Thought the famous five looked quite full. The penalty decision was pathetic, happy with the win on another day we would have scored a couple more.

I said that to my dad, we were both just normal ticket buyers, couldn't believe that there was only 500 or so of us at the game.

Around 10% of season ticket holders miss a game - holiday season etc.
That would suggest nearer 2000 walk ups

To summarise yesterday;
The defence who can't defend had a clean sheet, the goalie who doesn't make saves kept us in it at 0-0 & the young striker who doesn't convert enough chances scored with his first touch! Terrible news all round! Yesterday was always going to be a difficult game, we got the result we needed & deserved!

I agree that was going to be a difficult match a win was all that was required not bothered about the performance given all that has been going on.
I do worry about our lack of goal threat and dont expect us to take anything from ibrox as I am not impressed by our overall squad to many good prospect players would like a few been there done it players.

Agree 100%, will get nothing next week, all about 2nd place/play-offs and a cup run.

It was easily the second highest attendance in the country yesterday. I know that was aided by the fact that Hearts and Aberdeen were both away yesterday but it's still not bad considering we're playing in the Championship for the second consecutive season.

It's all about having a tilt at the title. Can't believe folk are dismissing us after two league games, ffs.
