Looking at the attendances last night the thing that jumped out was how pathetically poor the attendances were at all the grounds apart from Ipswich. The majority under 5k and many at 2k, again these clubs can only be surviving on tv cash.

Yep. Football in Scotland has a far higher average attendance than England, per capita.

Your right, it jumped out at me when I saw 11k+ at Dens last night and South absolutely pathetic attendances.

A lot of the Championship teams play weakened sides in the competition, hardly likely to encourage a big crowd to turn up.

The crowd looked almost non-existent at that Doncaster game someone posted the link to in another thread.

A derby game with season tickets included in the gate isn't exactly like for like with unappetising all-pay League Cup first round games.

Maybe, but will be interesting to follow this competion through its various rounds and see if attendances pick up.

11k at Dens? Were they watching the game on a big screen? 😀

Purely down to two teams though.

Early round of League Cup matches in low crowds shocker.

To be fair, our game was on a sunny Saturday. If it was a dour midweek, I think we would be looking at 3000 - 4000.
