Too soon?

I grew up with cilla in her many reincarnations, my mum loved her to bits and you can say what you want about her talents as a singer but her sense of humour was on the ball. RIP

Me too and she would appreciate it I'm sure. She wasn't everyone's cup of tea in Liverpool as many decry her support of the Tories and claim she forgot her Scotty Road background but I prefer to remember the joy she brought in many guises.

She was the female face of the Mersey sound in the 60s. The Scouse girl-next-door with a distinctive and powerful singing voice. Many folk who turned teenage in that era will feel a loss. Her 80s shows weren't my cuppa tea but she brought a lorra laughs to lots of viewers.

Helped keep Savile's secrets along with a load of others including Esther Rantzen & that deplorable cow Janet Street-Porter.

Cilla wouldnae leave a VIP ticket at the door of the Grafton Club cos she thought the clientele was too old for Jimmy! Or it might be something else, me, I preferred Kirklands! ;-)

I bet you missed the Kirklands reunion in June:-) Some young folk were educated by the older women of the Grafton ;-)

I'd be interested to know what percentage of the contestants on Blind Date were sent by their PR or Modelling Agencies.

Simon Cowell was on the show, as well as a host of others like him. He was once one of the people that he now takes advantage of, the ones desperate for fame by any means possible. Actually, his plastic faced fellow judge, Amanda Holden, was also on the show

Simon Cowell was on Sale of the Century, not Blind Date. Jenni Falconer was on Blind Date though.

You're right Beefster. That'll teach me to take things I read on the Internet at face value.

He was actually on a Beeb show called Right To Reply (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N401SDmevkI) as well, being just as much of a tosspot but with a squeakier voice.

Loving how the headlines are about the foiled plot to break into her house during funeral. There was no evidence of any plot,no intelligence, no suspects, just a load of conclusion drawing due to a hole being found cut in the fence. Talk about sensationalism.

I am surprised the BBC hasn't organised a sort of state funeral with live coverage today. She was one of their biggest stars.

The service is on the BBC. It's very moving. Cliff has csung a rather long tribute.

Around the time when all of the Savile stuff came out she said something along the lines of 'everyone knew it was going on' as did Esther Rantzen.

Can't find anything on Google as all the results when searching for 'Cilla Black Jimmy Savile' are all about some DJ comparing the 2 when Cilla Black died.

Maybe she knew that he liked girls at the younger end of the scale but I'd be surprised if she knew the full picture at the time.

If that's the strength of the argument then the whole of Britain is culpable. Let's be honest almost everyone knew he was dodgy, maybe not the extent of his depravity but a lot of his behaviour was quite clearly in the public eye.

That's correct. Some would say he got away with it.

He professed to be a man of God in his lifetime and if that was genuine then his conscience must have pricked him. We can only hope so.

By his own lights, he will have come to face his maker to answer for his sins. The Lord would have found it hard not to consign him to an eternity of torment, so in that sense, he didn't get away with it..
