What the hell is going on with those seagulls at Easter road today. Divebombing the public inside the stands looking for food Actually was a bit scared...not a funny matter.

Went away when the PA system was blaring away at HT, so there's something in this :greengrin Read that the Dons had the same problem but had some ideas to rid them.

Put hawk kites up in the stands. That's what we use at the centre in Livingston seems to do the trick as we had major problems with ten on the special roof we have

I used to work in a huge single storey building with a flat roof and we had problems with these *********.

I know the PA system can only be used for urgent messages during the match but would that include playing the seagull distress call? It wouldn't disturb the match as such just the gulls. We used that in the office I was in and had some success.

The last thing we want to do is encourage the seagulls. Seagull **** can be a huge stinky mess and it ain't easy to wash off. Chucking chips for them to scoff is really stupid. It might mess with their cholesterol though!

Stop selling the crap over priced - bad tasting food and they won't stop by.

Seriously though while it's not an issue all season - it's an issue a long with the poor tannoy system / sound that need sorted.

I'm fairly sure that is illegal tooI used to speak to the pest control guy when he had a few jobs at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, he had a mahoosive hawk with him, he said he can't physically touch the seagulls or eggs but he finds the nests and the hawk pecks holes in the eggs to destroy the embryos.

Anti seagull paint on top of the stands.
Some of them where actually landing and pulling bits of food under the seats, and why didn't they bother anyone in the west stand? They've got anti seagull stuff over there i reckon.

Had to laugh when a small group of the seagulls broke away chasing another with food, the excitement must have been too much as one of the gulls vacated their bowels just in front of us,,,,,pebble dashing a pair of stewards at the front of section 39, west stand!

I'm sure that's how quite a few local authorities deal with the problem - just remove the eggs. I think that was part of the Aberdeen plan too.

In all seriousness it is something that needs to be looked at as there's far too many of them going about and it really is distracting and it's quite inevitable in terms of being splattered at some point as well.

They have very little fear of humans which means they're quite happy to get up close and personal in the hunt for scraps of food.

It's something that Hibs should be addressing, perhaps along with Edinburgh council.

Read somewhere that Aberdeen had a hawk that was released during their game last week. Not sure whether I'd fancy getting covered in seagull guts should any of them actually get caught, but it'd be a good deterrent at least.

I live right next to the ground and they are the bain of my life. Keep me awake at night with their relentless squaking(when do they sleep ffs?!), ***** all over my car and then I can't even escape them at the football. They are getting bigger and braver as well. Something needs done pronto as its a real issue. My vote would go to getting a bird of prey. Awesome creatures, unlike ****ing seagulls that bring nothing good to the party

A seafront cafe in Hove has a cut-out silhouette of a hawk on top of a flexible pole, which looks like it's hovering in the slightest of breezes. Very effective.

One or two on each stand, just on match days so they don't get accustomed too quickly, and the problem would disappear...hopefully :greengrin

Absolutely correct all Gulls are protected and there are many species (there's no such species as a Seagull btw) Also active nests are protected.

I don't suppose there's any chance of any of them coming out and saying they have always wanted to drop one of their brightly coloured and aromatic loads on the rangers fans? if so surely the full weight of the Scottish Media could be brought down on the authorities to get them safely transferred through to the west where they belong?

Any truth in the rumours that Hibs are currently recruiting for a bunch of real hard ******* Gulls to ambush any invading Gulls on Matchdays?

I heard they're calling themselves The Seaside Squad, and they train the younger Gulls in a Car Park late at night, with their 'top boy', Randy Blanks.

I'd been herring something similar except the young team are on their summer holidays just now (probably looking for a $h@g) so training with the razor(bill)s doesn't start until tern time.

They have tactics you know. First half V Morton only a couple were in evidence but come half time and for the second half we get mobbed. I reckon the ones in the first half are the 'spotters' and they put out the call to the rest when we're going for our over-priced pies!

Maybe simply giving them one of our pies would be enough to put them off for good
