...Transfer Fee Hibs have ever paid?

I was watching Vids of games from the 90's and early noughties and some of the figures paid for players then seem quite astronomical now (e.g. 400k for McGinlay), in regards to what Hibs would pay.

In fact, there are very few players I can think of recently where Hibs have actually paid a Fee.

Cannae remember the fee but, De la Cruz must be up there.

I think it would be Keith Wright (£500,000), Darren Jackson (£400,000) or Pat McGinlay (£400,000).

Was told we paid nowhere near £750,000 for De La Cruz.

A signing on fee to the man himself perhaps but no transfer fee.

I'd have thought De La Cruz. Perhaps Martin McIntosh then?

Was reported as £700,000 widely at the time!

What did we pay for Goram, about £350k?

De La Cruz was indeed nowhere near the reported figure.

IIRC and without checking am sure McIntosh was around the 250k mark and then hardly played any games for us!!

Bit of spin from Oor Rod was it?

So its Keith Wright then still?!

Did we not pay a fairly sizeable fee for Zemmama eventually?

Was there a fee involved in getting Riordan back from Celtic?

Appears you are right. Thought it was more. That said, given his return, a tenner would have been too much...

McGinlay was a strange one. He moved to Celtic for over 400k, stayed for one season, then moved back to Hibs for almost the same fee.

I think Hibs basically just gave them most of their own money back.

----

OK, according to Wikipedia (I know) Celtc paid Hibs 520k for Pat and Hibs paid Celtc 420k to buy him back. Strangely, he was Celtc's leading goalscorer (even though he was a midfielder) but was told he wasn't in their plans.

De La Cruz was the highest - sold for double what we got for him within a short space of time so good business.

Stokes must be up there to

according to wiki

Stokes joined Hibernian (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibernian_F.C.) for an undisclosed fee, reported by the Newcastle Evening Chronicle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newcastle_Evening_Chronicle) to be around £500,000, in August 2009

He again enjoyed success in the SPL, scoring over 20 goals in his only full season with Hibs.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Stokes#cite_note-Soccerbase-1) Stokes moved to boyhood heroes Celtic shortly after the start of the following season, for a fee of around £1.2 million

Was it Zemmama or Benji that we signed although their club claimed to have a contract and we ended up paying out?

I think the entire package for DLC was £750k, ie. including transfer, signing on and agent's fee + wages.

TBF, you rarely give a straightforward comment and just contribute to the debate/question. Normally what you say is a dig at someone or something, so I can see where they're coming from.

That's entirely your choice, of course, but you shouldn't be surprised when some people eventually get a bit p1ssed off with it.

3rd?

I'm still haunted by the money paid for O'Brien!

If that was the price that would have included his signing-on fee.

My understanding was that Hibs didn't pay any more to Celtc than what they paid to us in the first place.

I know it wasn't the highest amount Hibs have ever paid as a transfer fee for a player, but I remember the complete surprise when Tom Hart / Eddie Turnbull brought Joe Harper to Hibs, from Everton, on 31 January 1974 for a fee £120,000. A huge fee in those days. I wonder what that would equate to today?

It seemed a strange thing to do because that season Hibs were runners up to Celtic in the league (18 teams in those days). Hibs had retained the Drybrough Cup earlier that season after beating Rangers in the semi-final, and Celtic in the final. They just couldn't manage to win the title. Changed days.

The following season Jimmy O'Rourke was transferred to St Johnstone for £15,000. I couldn't believe it.

Going purely by inflation, it would be £1,296,883.56 -- give or take the odd penny
