That's rotten luck.

Not sure how much he would have featured in the starting eleven and fingers crossed that we don't lose anymore particularly them who are pretty much automatic starts.

Good luck Danny, get fit, and we can use you in the league run in

What a shame, rotten luck indeed. But with the intense fitness programmes going on at East Mains, hopefully with some hard work he will come back stronger. No doubt he will be gutted, being out before the season has even begun.

All the best Danny, wish you a speedy recovery.

Jeez that's terrible.

Hope he gets through the recovery OK.... and we don't get anymore players injured.

Thats a bar steward. ACL killed my football completely. Big difference between someone in their 40s getting a medical repair on the NHS and a young athlete privately through health care insurance. Hope he makes a full physical and mental recovery.

yes, and also that young athlete can spend their whole working day , every day focussing on recovery, whereas non athletes can't they have to squeeze it in after work...the results from these ops now are very high...wishing Danny all the best - see him back soon.

Absolutely, mental strength can be just as important in the recovery process. Needs to show the right attitude and use this to spur him on.

I very much doubt it. We were already looking for another central midfielder, I think we've just lost a member of our squad for half the season.

Best of luck to him. I had ACL surgery just over a year ago and it's a tough slog getting back to it and sticking with the physiotherpy. He's got considerably more at stake with it though so sure he'll come through.

Horrible injury.

Callous. Danny will be paid his wages, no loan for him now so no reduction in wage bill

Will his wages not be covered by our insurance? Sure this is the case with long term injuries.

It's bad enough for Handling, or any player for that matter, to get such an injury in a meaningful fixture.

But for it to happen in a meaningless (other than to get match fitness built up) pre-season friendly just makes it worse.

Hope DH recovers soon.

Only positive for Danny is that he signed a long contract last year, so at least he has that security.

Real shame as I was hoping a wee loan move might revitalise his Hibs career. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

I never thought that Danny was going to break through as a regular but had hoped he may prove me wrong. Sadly this injury setback will now push him even further back and may well be the final straw for his opportunities at Hibs. Wish him well on his long road to recovery and full fitness, at least he has the security of his contract so no worries there for him.

Feels sorry for Danny, especially at a time when his career is at a crossroads Hibs wise, seemingly was playing fairly well in his new deeper role, so an even bigger blow for the lad.

I would class 6 moths as a speedy recovery for a injury as bad as this. I would expect 7-8 months at least before he is fully fit

For a young player who needs to playing regular football at this stage of his career it's a huge blow physically and mentally especially with his situation where he would of been looking to impress in pre season friendlies.
He then has to try and force his way back into Stubbs plans but we will also have had to make decisions in the January a Transfer window about strengthening squad depending on how we are doing at that point and thinking about the run in
It will be as much about confidence and keeping his spirits up during his period of rehab but judging by the concern shown by most of his team mates as he lay on the ground he will get good support .
Alex Harris as been through it ,so wIll already have given him good advice and Farid also .

Best of luck Danny

Sorry to hear about Danny's injury and the length of time he's expected to be out. Hope he manages to stay focused during his time on the sidelines.
Best of luck for a full, and as speedy a recovery as possible, Danny.

Poor luck. I actually rate him. One of my criticisms of him is his lack of upper body strength (this is a criticism I have had of almost every young player to come through at Hibs in recent years with the exception of Forster). This will maybe give him the chance to work on this, on the plus side.
