Do you actually think they give a toss about you?
Russell Brand summed them up perfectly.
These people send their 5 year old children to boarding school, FFS.

Not much change for me as far as I could see. Wondering when my tax break is coming!

Better deal for the working tax payer I suppose as less of my money going to other people.

Is that starting next year? I've still not had one this year but I'm not sure if this year was frozen again or not. I'm at the top of my grade so I only get the annual increment. I reckon my wages have gone up about £40 a month in the last 6 years.

This was exactly my point when I started the thread about MP's 10% pay rise... Really hits home when the budget comes round and hard working people are posting this! Makes my blood boil. :grr:

I got a slight increase to my take home pay due to a change to the tax codes, but my gross wage stayed the same. I'm with the council, don't know if all public sectors are the same.

Huge, huge changes, especially the abolition of permanent non dom status and removing the dividend tax credit. Not sure wtf a 38.1% top rate is all about though.

Can anyone explain the tax credit changes to me? When I read it originally, I didn't think it would affect me, as I only have one child. I've since done the budget calculator and its saying I'm going to be £1500 a year worse off.

Inflation. The benefit is frozen for four years, but the real cost of food and goods etc... Goes up each year or so and, as such, you are in a worse position than the year before.

The change being the increase in your personal allowance from 10,000 to 10,600. Should work out about a ten spot a month.

N.b. If anyone is a basic rate taxpayer whose spouse isn't earning, you can get 10% of their personal allowance e.g. £1,060 a year, a £212 saving a year.

Surely that can't be right? I don't understand where they are cutting the money from. I'm reading something about the threshold going down to £3,850, but it says it's going down from £6,420 and I already earn more than that. Also given that you need to work at least 16 hours per week to qualify, if the threshold is £3,850, that works out as £4.62 per hour, minimum wage is £6.50 is it not?

Inflation doesn't go Up by £1,500/£2,000 a year though?
