I think this may have been discussed before, but I can't find the thread.
Every time I see a clip from the House of Commons it's either almost entirely empty, or it's full of folk apparently making incoherent noises just for the sake of it. What actually is the purpose of PMQs?
One of the latest clips I've heard is of David Cameron referring to Dennis Skinner as being something out of Jurassic Park and I know he has previous for referring to him as a dinosaur. More than a little ageist perhaps?
Is this the best we can expect from our PM (and politicians generally)? Are these folk not supposed to be some sort of role models?

PMQs is always busy as the whips make PMs turn up to cheer on their party. They also get their early for TV seat. It's more for TV than anything else but it's amazing to see a backbench MP **** themselves trying to read a question and it's one on more occasion that not they've been told to ask. But the HoC is well worth a visit and your MP should be able arrange it. Decent ones will even arrange a tour and make an appearance

They do tours during recesses and at weekends. Well worth the visit.

I've heard it needs £3bn worth of repars? I'm not going until they've fixed it up a little bit! :greengrin
I get your point lucky, but surely there's nobody watching that rabble and coming away impressed?
Anyway, to be pedantic, I don't think you can visit the House of Commons because that's not a building...or am I being too picky? :greengrin

I once had drinks on the House of Lords terrace on a beautiful summers afternoon. There are worse ways to spend some time!!
As far as I can make out the bill for repairs (which could be up to £7bn) includes for a few "improvements" to facilities as well. See what happens when you give a bunch of politicians a project to run? Oh, of course, the Scottish Parliament went in a similar direction. What's the betting that if they stuck to repairing the building the bill would be hell of a lot smaller.
