He is objecting to - and prepared to make a stand about ("burn") - people/businesses being forced to participate in activities that are contrary to their sincerely held beliefs and principles. He is not objecting to homosexuality per se, as he says here (http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/why-i-will-defy-recognition-of-same-sex-marriage/#zMqlVqyZ08WVASOi.99):

"I have no intention nor desire to offend or hurt homosexuals in America. I believe the vast majority of homosexuals, like the vast majority of all Americans, want to be left alone to live by the choices that comprise our lives."

If homosexuals want to be "married" for spiritual reasons, there is nothing to stop them from forming their own church or religion.

If they want to be "married" for financial reasons, then church and state should be separated in this area too, with the state providing the option of a "partnership contract" with tax/inheritance benefits that is open to anyone who wants it and that can be expanded as we become more kinky down the line, e.g. multiple partners, (multigenerational) incest (no longer problematic in same-sex "marriage"), lower age of consent, animals, vegetables, minerals, machines, taxidermy... whatever the heart desires.

Lots of people have "sincerely held beliefs" which are illegal and/or immoral.

The people who hold them should be made to comply with what society believes is fair and right.

And you're being naive if you think he's not homophobic. "He has previously called AIDS "God's judgement""

How is incest "no longer problematic in same-sex marriage" ?

It's neither illegal, nor immoral, to be opposed to same sex marriage.

Your second sentence is also quite dangerous. In many countries, society believes that it's fair and right to oppress people who hold different beliefs to the majority and, in these cases, their beliefs are deemed to be both illegal and immoral. Do you seriously believe that people should just comply with what society says is fair and right just because theirs isn't the majority point of view?

I've heard this argument before about same sex marriage potentially removing barriers to incestual relationships becoming legal.

Apparently the only real problem society has with incest is the potential genetic problems in offspring.

Don't see the argument myself.

The mistake people often make about same-sex relationships is that they are about sex and nothing else. Incest, by definition, is only about sex.

I agree wholeheartedly.

It's a poor argument bordering on the offensive imo.

Yes. I'm a democrat.

People should obey the law or change it.
