We could probably offer him 10% of what Celtic gave him so doubt it!

Was a descent Goalie though when he chose to play football.

Celtic game him nothing hence why he is now a free agent.

Surely they would of been paying him very well?
But you are right...They game him nothing.

Did he even play any games?

You'd have to scrap a lot of rust off him first.

The Lukasz Zaluska who played for Dundee Utd - Yes please.
The Lukasz Zaluska who has only played 51 matches in the six years since he joined Celtic - No thanks

?

It'll be the same Zaluska that was warming the smeltic bench that played for Dundee Utd. He was 2nd choice to Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon at Smeltic. Two very good GK's.

I would rather sign a goalkeeper who's been playing regularly, than one who's played an average of less than 10 matches a year over the last six years.

He won't have lost the ability he had previously, he'll still have been playing in goals every day.

I wasn't a massive fan of Oxley but I think approaching premiership clubs for their 3rd or 4th choice is probably a decent tactic for this position, there'll be a lot of good goalies in the reserves down south but it's such a difficult position to break through in there should be something decent ones available.

Good Keeper. Neil Alexander was a bench warmer for years as well and he's done ok at the yams. Don't think we should write this one off...won't happen anyway

Even if he's a good GK? Zaluska never got regular game time at Celtic because the GK's that were no.1 at the club were better. That doesn't mean he has lost the GK ability he showed at Dundee United. He couldn't get a start because the likes of Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon were playing well in between the sticks.

What do you think Craig Gordon's average league games over the 6 seasons before joining Celtic were?

He went near 3 years without playing any mind.

The answer is 9.

(according to wikipedia!)

Would happily at least take a look at him and I'd be excited to have him as our number 1.

And then there's Antti Niemi...

Happy to warm the bench for 6 years? I don't think he is the type of character we want about East Mains.

Yes but that was due to injury, not because he was happy sitting on the bench at a club that had little intention of playing him unless there were injuries or the game was meaningless.

If Stubbs thinks he'll do a job then fair enough, I would just personally be looking for a goalkeeper who's actually had a bit of game time in recent months.

That would make his court case with Paul Paton pretty interesting

Not for me.

Not because he's been benchwarming for 6 years but because he's just not that good a goalkeeper. He's ok but nothing special, Celtic fans I know certainly don't rate him and a quick scan at their forums suggests that's not straying far from the majority view.

If Stubbs thinks he's the answer then fair enough but I'd be stunned if there isn't better available within our price range.

Hate to say it, but it's starting to look like we may end up with a loan goalie again next season.

Hope I'm wrong (again)!

Wouldn't bother me at all. A good keeper is what we need, regardless of whether that is on loan or a 1 year or 2 year contract.

No difference in signing a player on a season long loan or giving them a 1 year contract

Agree as long as they are good. Another Oxley or even the same one would do me. :greengrin

Zaluska had 6 games last season for Celtic:

P6 W2 D2 L2

Not so outstanding stats. Still, he was playing at a higher level than Championship.

what are people expecting us to sign.....an international keeper who played 40 odd games last season?????

So unless we buck the trend of the whole scottish transfer market....we will be signing either a young keeper with limited experience or an older keeper that has hardly played. No harm in taking a look at him

I'd take him. Don't understand why anyone wouldn't to be honest. Why have we become so picky???

Looked a class goalie at United.

This talk about him being a bench warmer and not getting a game etc etc - Just remember how well Super Stubbs has done at reviving a couple footballing careers over the past year :agree:

Didn't we pull Jim Leighton from the Dundee bench?
