You don't half talk pish. Hutton has been superb for us over the years. He was one of about 7 average performers for us tonight.

Really? I've always been of the opinion he has always been the weak link - he has lived off 1 good season at the Huns apart from that he is bang average.

I see Faroe Islands beat Greece 2-1. embarrassing.

Last year they got to the last 16/quarter finals of the World Cup. Knocking Ivory Coast out 2-1, with a last minute penalty in their penultimate group match. Now they are rock bottom of their group with no wins and are out.

Maybe it was part of the payback plan for Henri's handball

If Scotland fail to qualify, can they sue FIFA, and get £5m?

Nah, you might come round to the fact that Hibs and Scotland are actually doing OK...eventually.

I really hope and do believe, someday, they will.

Both club and country are going in the right direction but are still far from where they should be for my liking, so stay tuned for more " negativity" whenever either fail to impress. A Scottish Cup for the Cabbage or World Cup qualification for Scotland might just change my outlook.😉

How?

Faroe Islands are part timers aren't they? That's 2 games true lost to them and they haven't won a single game of the qualifiers.

Football has changed so much these days, there are no "easy games".....Sure Germany took over half an hour to score against Gibraltar, you would have got a good price on that....

Imagine having the double done on you by the Faroe Islands :hilarious

Onto Scotland, our most crucial games now are home to Poland and especially away to Georgia.

Did seem a strange selection would have had Greer instead of Mulgrew and Robertson or Whitty for Forsyth and also Anya on. Greer isn't the best in the world but he is strong and can head a ball which is what we needed.

I suppose in Strachans defence he will be able to see who is sharp and who isn't given the awkward date of the game.

Decent enough point and we have every right to be hacked off at the officials with a clear red for the traitor and an embarrassingly offside goal however feel with a bit more possession we could have scored again. Thought Ireland were physical but bang average football wise.

Of the teams who have already played 6 games, We are well placed for best 3rd. Only Ukraine look like overtaking us by the time this round is over. Todays point could be hugely significant

I think Hungary would beg to differ

Your Table hasn't been updated.

.....and before anyone else gets pedantic. Yes, Switzerland can overtake us, but the likelihood is that Slovenia will drop to 3rd in that group. Russia may also likely overtake us with a win over Austria, but that's by no means certain. The key point of my post was that we are well placed for 3rd best

Think the table is up to date, remember

The highest ranked third placed team from the groups will qualify automatically for the tournament, while the remainder will enter the playoffs. As most groups contain six teams but one contains five, matches against the sixth-placed team in each group are not included in this ranking. As a result, a total of eight matches played by each team count toward the purpose of the third-placed ranking table

I noticed that rule after I made my post...but then hoped no-one would notice. :greengrin

As an aside, the table is always going to change depending on who is last in any group at any given time, so the games that count may differ...all far too complicated for a lazy Sunday morning

Think Hungary have ben helped with the Faroes surprisingly beating Greece twice relegating them to bottom.

Still a bit to ing & fro ing to go

Just booked ferry from Cairnryan to Belfast 4:00am tomorrow morning, with car. Booked back Saturday at 23:00 but can get the Sunday 7:30 ferry back from Belfast. I get 2 passengers with me so if anyone is up for a road trip I'll be leaving Edinburgh tonight about midnight.

First come first served. Also need a ticket now

Did you get any takers? I would've probably taken you up on your offer but, never saw your post until yesterday. Out of interest what would the price have turned out to be?

In the past thematches against the minnows of the group don't count, as one group doesn't haveminnows--so Greece losing twice to Faeroes wouldn't hurt them ift they finish 3rd---though that now seems a tad far fetched. Their ranking will plummet now, so we'll get them in our WC group as the minnows, as they start their resurgence(See Wales 3/4 yeas back

Its because on group has 5 so to find out who is the best third placed team you have to convert all the other group results into 5 team groups

Agree with this to be honest.Part of the reason we don't seem to do it when it matters is too many of our fans accept mediocrity and then blast those for being 'negative' when they have every right to complain/give their opinion. If we set higher standards we will achieve more. Last season was a failure pure and simple. We finished way behind Hearts, bottled it again in the SC which was our best opportunity in years to win it. I don't think its about people being negative for the sake of it. What some are saying is we shouldn't accept mediocre seasons and performances, we are a big club and we should aim higher.

In saying this I do believe we are going in the right direction (Hibs and Scotland) but until we have actually achieved something significant, I don't think we should be in celebration mode. Once Hibs win the league next season and Scotland qualify, praise will be due. But until then the levels of praise some have been giving is not deserved IMO.
