I read today that Stubbs is taking the team to La Manga in Spain for a few days, beautiful place and very popular for football training and keeping players fitness levels up!

Trust Stubbs that he knows what he is doing.

I tell you these footballers don't half get a nice time of it.

Think they r flying out on Sunday...prob after Stubbs takes in match in Dumfries on Sat night. Hope it recharges the players batteries and gets them ready for play offs

I've seen some people moaning about this, but I think its great. I'm sure the players will get worked very hard by the coaching staff, and there's likely to be other teams around that they can maybe get a bounce game against. Stubbs stressed on his HTV interview this week that there would be no time for socialising, although there will be a couple of hours here and there for sunbathing & swimming.

This will be great to improve further that strong bond they seem to have, and even with the training, I'm sure they'll come back feeling refreshed and ready to go!! :flag:

Given the fact that Spanish football has been suspended, there will be no end to the number of bounce games they can get!

Can't believe people are moaning about this, AS said on Hibs TV that it was a short midweek break to do some warm weather training and allow the players to get some sun on their backs, he said training will be as per normal with zero socialising and the ocassional swim and ice cream, I can only see the benefit in this as it lets any injuries or niggles to heal and make the players feel better.

Has anyone moaned about it?

Did the team the world of good before the league cup final against killie.

Good news. I was concerned that the extended break between the Falkirk game and our first play off match might have an impact on how we performed. A break like this will give the players a little rest, improve team spirit and breakup what otherwise could have been 2 weeks of training without a match in the bleak Scottish Springtime, where the opportunities of getting an interesting bounce game are minimal. The players should be raring to go once they arrive back home after this

Cracking idea and will ensure the players are fresh and sharp for the tough games coming up.

If the players act like proper professionals then they get the perks that go with that. Makes sense to me.

Let's just hope the current batch of players can go a few days in Spain without a pint unlike the class of 2007.

Think psychologically this is a great idea: gets the players away from the media ****fest over The Rangers much revered return to the SPFL, allows them all to live and socialise together as a unit, nice weather and surfaces to train on and, I hope, a feeling that once they step on their return flight home, it'll feel like getting parachuted into Normandy "let's go boys!"

If AS think this will help us then fair enough really.
One thing that i often wonder about these so called *breaks* is do hibs (as the club)pay for everything?

I ve often wondered about these sorta things when other clubs have done it and i often think about teams like both the mancherster clubs for example when they do these overseas tours in far away places and who pays for them !!

These big summer tours, the clubs have it paid for by sponsors in most cases. Hibs will be covering the cost themselves tho

Of course they do. If your employer asked you to go away to spain for a week (for work purposes), would you not expect them to foot the bill?

Heard that one of the reasons Hibs are charging season ticket holders for entry to the play off games is to help pay for this little jolly. ;-)

Stubbs obviously feels the benefits of training away outweigh the good he could do with a few sheckles saved. Reason enough.

As an add on to the thread the spirit amongst the players is better than it has been for many years.

On Sunday they had a day out in Glasgow, some kind of indoor golf was part of it and I think it was organised by Scott Allan.

Scott was at it, left to go to the awards and then returned to join the players afterwards.

No nonsense, everyone well behaved and to top it off Scott won the award.

Perfect.:flag::flag::flag:

Cheers Callum much appreciated. Surprised the team are not using my local facilities as it is favoured by the Spain national and La Liga teams. Pinatar Arena. Both my boys play for there team. They are in the third division of the Spanish league.

obviously going away for a holiday abroad sounds like it could be detrimental to our playoff cause but (as a boro fan) i was ready an article about middlebrough trip abraod and it seemed like may be a great idea and worked for them. Adam Clayton was talking about it beening a master stroke. :) just though i would share this info with you all.

http://www.mfc.co.uk/news/article/2014/boro-brentford-play-offs-adam-clayton-2450828.aspx?

Clayton labelled Karanka’s decision to take Boro abroad as a ‘masterstroke’ and says the brief period away from the spotlight worked wonders for the squad.

“I think it (going to Spain) was a masterstroke,” said the midfielder. “It was just what we needed.

“You could see against Brighton it was tired legs after a long season and more just to reinvigorate a few brans and legs.

“It really did that, there was a lot of mischief and banter going on so the bond of the group got stronger and it was worthwhile trip.

“We were disappointed and a bit disjointed, but we went there and there was loads of banter – I literally didn’t think about the game until I landed.

“It really took our minds off the situation and galvanised the group and got some good energy back into the team. It was really good and it wiped the cobwebs of not making the top two away because we’ve still got a really good chance of making it to the Premier League and we’re going to try and do that.”

Just proves that despite all the bravado deep down they know that their blind loyalty to a regime that exploited small businesses, charities and other football clubs was piss poor.
