I'm going to Amsterdam for the second May bank holiday. Can't find any "reasonably" priced accommodation.

Tried trivago, looking at £400+ for 2 nights.
Air BNB is also pretty pricey and there are not many choices.

Does anyone have any recommendations of places to check?

Several years ago we stayed in the Botel (a floating hotel in the harbour.) Nothing fancy but very reasonable and in walking distance of a lot of places.

Was there in February, stayed at the Rho Hotel. Just off Dam square really nice and very reasonable for bed and breakfast.

Staying here in August which is one of the cheaper options and comes with breakfast -

Accomodation in Amsterdam is very expensive, looking to book Berlin as part of the same trip and can get 5 nights in a four / five star for roughly the same price as 2 nights in Amsterdam !

Have a look at the westcord city center or the belevue hotel. Both are literally 3 minutes walk from central station and 2 min from the damrak.

I am sure you will get a decent price on the comparison sites, around 100 euro a nigh with breakfast for a double room. I have stayd in both twice and couldn't complain

All are fully booked for the bank holiday weekend. Found a place 10 mins from Dam Square to the West which isn't bad. Didn't realise Amsterdam accommodation was so expensive

I'm sure that Botel has moved. I stayed there the last time but had to get a wee ferry over the water to it.

Stayed in The City Hotel - http://www.cityhotelamsterdam.com/ - before and that was ok.

You'll find that you need to book 3 nights rather than 2 for Amsterdam at weekends. They usually want you to take Friday-Monday.

There is one more - Hotel CC, however this is on the main street around the red light district. It can be pretty noisy and busy outside, but the rooms themselves are very nice and you don't hear much noise, it all depends if you fancy staying in that area or not :aok:
